That's exactly my point as well which i mentioned a few posts below. For a layman, the minute the car comes out after servicing ( oil change), it really feels good and my question was how to distinguish between different brands and grades which tsk already replied

As long as the brand is a reputed one, then factors like detergent as you have posted earlier tsk. My point being always aim for a higher grade than manufacturer recommended one for Indian scenario, manufacturer spec's are mostly bare minimum in India lol

Has any one seen MAK CI4 in 5ltr or 10ltr cans? They were the one to introduce CI4 grade in India some 3 years back, but AKAIK they still sell it 210Ltr barrels.

I tried searching for MAK but never found the CI4, the highest in cans was the CF4 GOLD

These Public Oil companies like IOC,BP,etc don't care about grades or quality.
Definitely not for the enthusiast.

I tried for Mobil Delvac fully synthetic CI grade oil. But when i go to the dealers here they say there is no such oil. How can i source it? if i dont get it i am planning to switch to Movil Delvac MX.

Anybody can help me with details where to find it ?

Thanks Sriturl, but i am in Kerala right now. Any leads to dealers in Kerala? The local shop people are so confident without knowledge, that they say there is no such oil at all.

Speedaway at mamangalam can source it for you. It might need to be ordered. last time I'd gone there, it was not in stock

Its bad news for me ripper, Speedaway in Trichur have stopped sourcing things and heard they are winding up here. I have to travel to EKM every time i need an oil change.

I got the information about bangalore dealers through an online query on mobil web site. They are very responsive. You can expect reply within 24 hrs.

I found their dealer in my city, but they are shutting shop here. So have to go all the way to Ernakulam to get it.

For the Indica(all TATA vehicles) buy the cheapest available oil that is recommended in the owners manual and reduce the drain interval to half that is mentioned in the manual. Your car should be fine for 1.25lakh kilometers with oil consumption increasing to 0.5ml for

every kilometer that you run by which time you should either sell it or get a rebore job done.

How good is the OWS Synthetic oil? Has anybody has an experience with it? There are some great reviews about the OWS products, flush/protector/fuel additive and if their engine oil has a similar performance - then for the price it's listed it's a great VFM

On the sppedwork's site - OWS Fully synthetic 05W50 is being offered at Rs 675 a litre, 10W40 might be a tad cheaper than this... if that's the case - it's a great bang for the buck...

I dont think you can use OWS 5W50 in DDiS, its rating is only CF. Thats petrol oil i guess. They have another one for Diesel.
