Agree :-) Since there may not be a easy(online) way to get this replaced, am also planning to live without it and get it once the Corona virus goes away. Visit to RTO might be needed is my guess. Will update this thread if I learn something!

I used both the online complaint option using the ICICI FASTAG website and Customer care hotline. After 3 complaints they delivered finally! Try linking your call to customer care with the online complaint# reference so that they are forced to be accountable. In case you need it urgently you can visit their booth either at a ICICI bank branch or near Toll Gates!

Hello fellow BHPians.. I have posted this on the Seltos thread too. But maybe this is more relevant here.

I had a not so good surprise with my Seltos on Saturday. I had last driven it on Monday (5-Jul) and parked it in the basement parking of the apartment. I took it out on Saturday evening (10-Jul) to find a crack in the windshield. As soon as I sat inside the car, there it was, a crack in the windshield. I examined the windshield, there seems to be no object that has fallen on it. No stone hit, or anything like that. I am guessing it maybe due to drop in ambient temperature / pressure due to sudden pick up of monsoon rains (after a brief lull).

The crack starts from the beading of the the windshield and ends at the lower part of the windshield. The crack is on the outer side of the windshield.

Some questions I have are:
1. What could be the reason for the crack? Is sudden drop in temperature a reason?
2. Shouldn't car warranty take care of its replacement, especially since it appears to have failed by itself? Kia warranty will be tested now.
3. If the windshield is replaced, how does one get a replacement of the registration color coded sticker (HSRP?) stuck on the windshield.

I just noticed a very similar crack on my polo today. I drove the car this morning to work and it was perfectly fine. While coming back at evening noticed the crack, couldn't find any evidence of stone or any object hitting the windscreen. The weather was extremely hot with rains and sunlight at the same time today in Delhi. I am also guessing the sudden change in temperature to be the culprit. However, my car is way out of warranty so just figuring out whether it makes sense to go insurance route as I have a voluntary deductible of 5k. I won't lose the NCB as I have NCB protect as well.

Our 7 year old car has got a crack in front windshield and the insurance is from Acko which has an voluntary deductible of 5k+1k. So wondering whether using insurance would be beneficial or not?

I was in the exactly same boat. My car is also 7 years old and I had 6k deductible with ACKO only. I contacted windshield experts and they quoted me 6.3k, even though I also have NCB protect I decided not to go for it. Got it replaced from a good third party shop at 4.3k for genuine company glass. Have used him before and have seen him replacing class for all the big Germans as well so was confident about him. He also had Chinese options for around 3.3k. More than a week and no issues yet.

I reached in the morning and as he opened his shop he found a broken front windscreen for C class. He told me in such weather with extreme heat and rain this can happen with any car.

My dealer helped me to procure this. They billed me some 30 rupees for the same. Contact your SA and he will arrange.

My windshield hadn't cracked, but the sticker had almost peeled off since it wasn't applied properly during delivery.

Also, any other shop who would do it properly for an Octavia in Delhi-NCR region? The company is quoting 25k for the same.

I repaired the crack using a windshield repair kit and although it was not completely gone,it's barely noticeable and has not grown in size ever since. My dilema is, whether I should change the windshield under zero dep insurance or should I leave it as it is. I doubt that the workshop guys might not be able to get a factory level pasting and fitting and in the near future, It might develop leaks and other issues. To summarise, does a small inconspicuous crack that's been sealed and is not growing in size warrant a windshield change?

I changed my Ecosport's windshield yesterday under zero-dep insurance.

Changed it at Windshield Experts.
They did a completely professional job and a very clean install. They do have genuine windshields from Marutis to Ze Germans.
Insurance claim was also taken car by them.

Would suggest to try calling and check if you have their workshop nearby.

They don't have a shop in my town. I have to depend upon Maruti service centre for this, and that's why I am concerned about the quality of job.

Hello All,

During the drive to Goa, encountered a treacherous stretch of broken roads, loose gravel / stones between Nelamangala and Tumkuru. Suffered a stone hit and small star marked crack on the windscreen. Drove on and returned safely.

Visited the workshop and the body shop team said we can safely drive on, unless the crack increases in size.

Planning for a slightly DIY fix and see many options.

An AC repairer at my work place accidentally dropped his spanner on my car from the second floor that resulted in the crack as seen on the top right corner towards driver's side. I have given my Honda Jazz Aug 2021 purchase to the Viva Honda service center at Kanjurmarg West for changing of the windshield. The service center IN charge has personally assured me on the works when i met him while handing over the car.

After reading so many post on cracks being developed on treacherous roads which i will be taking the car to soon, what precautions do i need to take care of?
Also, December Mumbai rains i feel are suddenly a boon so that i can test if there is any ingress of water through the windshield but what if it is and when i am travelling what can i do immediately as a saving grace before i see someone for support.

My Swift's Windshield is cracked at 2 places, one a rather long crack. Can any repair be done do I have to replace it?

Also, any idea how much it would cost to replace it at Windshield Experts? Car has only 3rd party insurance - so I have to pay fully myself. Also any place I can get it done cheaper than Windshield Expert?

I am simply amazed to see so many people facing similar issues, of a small star crack leading to single long crack. Thats caused due to loose stones on the road being flung by vehicles from ahead. A few people who have a single crack starting from any corner of the windshield without a star crack means you hit a pot hole too hard or you were fast on a bad road, as per my experiences. Now the Remedy, well like you all I cannot stand a crack on my windshield, it bugs me. So after extensive search I came across RainX Windshield Repair Kit. Used it as per instructions and the cracks on the windshield were fixed. I did 2 of my personal cars and soon will be fixing my friend's car which has a very long crack. I have added the picture of the product and After pictures, but I didn't click Before pics but 1 crack was a small star crack and the other was a big star crack which had vertically elongated. I advice you guys to check the product out, as its a good DIY and extremely easy. You can order it online and save up on your insurance NCB and replacement. I hope this helps.
