From where you got them? And what was the cost involved?

My garage guy had sourced them , so i really don't know the shop from where they were bought. The price for only the shocks was around 16K. Expect more than the shocks to be replaced if you are going in for a suspension overhaul.

Got civic cover from http://www.coverit.in/car-covers/hon...ers/civic.html

Very sturdy and heavy, should be good for now, long term usage is yet to decide . Thanks for prabhu for posting this site .

Does HASS use same Honda Idemitsu 0w-30 VTEC oil or different ? If it is different where can I buy Honda Idemitsu 0w-30 VTEC oil in Bangalore ?

Idemitsu 0W 30 is recommended for the vtec and the best place do get it is HASS itself. You need not give the car for service to them, just go to a Honda dealership and tell them you have a 'request' to change the oil and oil filter. They cannot force you to do a full service. I think this oil is not freely available in the market.

I doubt whether Idemitsu 0W30 is available on the market. It is also Savsol or Savita 0W30, the same thing.

There are 3 different types of covers at various price ranges shown. Which one did you buy ?

And, yes I echo our friends on HASS being the best place to get the 0W30 Idemitsu synthetic oil.

rr_zen, I got the water resistant cover. I picked it up directly from store, so I got some discount . The store is in Bangalore, JC road, next to multilevel car parking.

This is the same type of car cover what vrprabhu mentioned in the below post
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...ml#post3394205

So the oil what HASS uses is INDEED 0W30 Idemitsu synthetic oil !

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Hello Guys,

Have any of you had their Civic's rear suspension overhauled. Any idea what the cost and what components would be needed to be looked at. I am aware of the rear shocks but are there any other components which would need changing. I am asking this because a funny incident happened yesterday. I was driving a couple of my colleagues towards mumbai through the Airoli toll naka which is also the place where they do the octroi checking etc. My Civic , because of the CNG, was drooping at the back due to the CNG tank, my colleague and the very fact that i have new shockers at the front which already makes the front taller than the rear.

Due to drooping stance of the the car, a octroi inspector signalled me to stop the car as he assumed i was carring goods etc in a private vehicle. He asked me to open the boot only to reveal a 70 litre CNG tank and my laptop bag. This got me thinking maybe i should get the rear suspension overhauled too , maybe in a few months, but i guess i eventually i would have to do it sometime. So i just wanted to the cost & the components etc.

Thanks

The main components at the rear are
1. Rear Struts (Shocks) x 2
2. Strut Mount x 2
3. Strut Housing x 2
4. Coils x 2
5. Rear Control Arms
6. Link Rods
7. Balancing rod and bushes

After market rates after my yesterday's outing with Sushrutha
1. Rear struts - I was told it is Rs 2000 each
2. Strut Mount - Rs 1400 each
3. Strut Housing - Rs 400 each
4. Coils - I was not able to finds them separately, normally the stock ones are ok with new strut
5. Rear control arms are one hell of a set-up and very expensive to source. Changing that unless some bends due to accidents is not normally required. You can change the bushes. I was told it will be under Rs 3000 for the bushes (RBI make).
6.Link Rods - Rs1200 for a set of two
7.Balancing rod is also not normally changed if it is not bend, its bushes are three cut bushes, normally should be ok.

So you are looking at Rs 9800 plus labour, labour normally will be under 3K max. All these are after market components if you source directly.

At Honda,
1. Struts are like 4500 each
2. No idea
3. No idea
4. No idea
5. All I know it should be north of 15K for both, bush kits - I am not sure, probably available at some 6K I heard
6. 3K ish each
7. No idea.

I will expect the prices at Honda to be 2.5-3x of the market prices. This is the typical markup at all ASS.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Front rotors were screaming every time I braked , especially the left one .
Thanks to sushrutha, got the front rotors skimmed and reinstalled .
Skimming 2 rotors 550 + labour 475 +100 Rs Tips = ~1100 back to normal .

Got the brembo pads , but did not install , since the stock pads has another 10 -15 K kms life .Sanded and installed back the stock pads for now .
Before , during , after pics .

Wow the skimmed discs look brand new (if you ignore the center part). How much did the brembo's cost you ? Were they imported ?

Yes, I did not expect it to turn out to be so good. Its like brand new. BTW brand new front rotors from HASS costs 3.5K each .

Brembo's got from the person who has brembo ads in tbhp classifieds .
