Once the engine is running, the alternator recharges the battery and also keeps the other electrical systems running. So I think you should get that wire replaced asap. It'll be an issue if the battery isn't getting charged and one fine morning, your car just doesn't crank.

My 07 civic suspension feels fine but the lower arm bushes have developed cracks over time. My mechanic suggested changing the lower arms. Since the lower arms are totally fine, Can the bushes alone be changed? do we get them in the market?

The only problem I'm facing with them is a "thud" "thud" sound while driving on bad roads. I'm guessing its coming from the bushes.

Civic is 51000 kms old.

Are you sure that it is not the infamous engine mount issue raising its head? Was the engine mount ever changed in this car?

It's not the engine mount for sure. They were changed during the 40k service and no vibrations in the car ever since.

Yes you can change the lower arm bushes. Refer my below mentioned post.
Without Lathe, inserting these bushes to lower arms is very difficult, so checkout for a garage( mechanic) who is willing to change the lower arm bushes & get it replaced in lathe.

Brought both mounts, as my car was shuddering, thought the issue to be Mounts gone busted.
Took my car to garage & Checked with a reliable garage Mechanic, found no issues with both the mounts, Replaced the Lower arm bushes .. To my utter suprise my car vibration/shudder has reduced a lot. Car feels smooth now.

Yes, lower arm bushings are available outside. I had sourced them from a shop in Masab Tank (Hyderabad) and got them installed at the FNG. Pls PM me in case you want more details.

Gave my Civic to Dakshin Honda, Bangalore for 20K Service. I didn't do the oil change from there as I have changed to Shell Fully Synthetic 500 Kms back.

For the power loss problem, I asked them to do a Throttle body and Injector cleaning along with change of Fuel filter and Air filter. Total Bill came to 8900. Overall happy with the experience. Car has become smoother. However, there is no drastic change in the pull.

Any specific reason why in 20k service you changed the fuel strainer ? Was the same clogged or something because I believe in 20k it need not be changed.

As mentioned in my previous quote, I was not happy with the power delivery and I wanted to clean up the entire fuel supply part of the car for any clog. Which are namely, Strainer, Throttle body and Injector.

I agree that the Strainer replacement happens only at 40K. But I thought of getting it replaced as the car has already completed 4 years and I have no clue about the fuel filling habits of the previous owner.

Car was given to me with hardly any petrol in it with no bars visible and the mileage shown was 7kmpl. which means, the gentleman was doing a hard driving before handing over the car. Which could suck in all the mucks in the empty tank to strainer.

For the money spent yesterday, Car is running smoother and the slight jerk in the first gear start also vanished.

Gentlemen - Continuing to my earlier post regarding steering vibration after I cross 95 KMPH, I have also performed a small test. I take my hands off steering at normal speed and see if the car moves away from the track on a flat road. I was horrified, my car slides to left side of the road. I have reported these two issues to HASS and they give me a strange reply:
Front 2 tyres are new and are from JK.
Rear 2 tyres are from Goodyear and the spare one is also Goodyear. The spare and rear tyres are worn out as per them but I have to really see once my car arrives.
They mentioned that JK tyres are not recommended to Honda Civic. Only Bridgestone,Goodyear & Michelin are suited. Now they are advising me to change all the 5 freaking tyres to get rid of these 2 issues !! I am in shock. I did search few forums but did not find a suitable answer. I also asked him to give it to me in written but you know the obvious answer from them.

I need suggestions people. THANKS !

Just came back from a front suspension overhaul on my Civic. The odo is 54800.
The lower arms need not be changed.The bushes have to be removed by using a hydraulic press machine.

Total damage 33.2K which includes front shocks, ball joints, tie rods, bushes etc. The car feels new and there is no thud thud at all.

Did you get the car alignment done. You can go to "Straight Line" at santacruz near milan subway. I am sure he would be able to help. As for HASS suggesting changing the tyres it just shows how competent they are. A alignment & balancing job at Straight line would cost you no more than 900 bucks at Straight Line. Make sure you tell them you are from T-bhp :-)

@spoth001; I think they re fibbing. Try swapping tyres right to left or same axle. See if the wander switches. I strongly suspect the balancing of the wheels (esp front) to also contribute.

My Civic runs perfectly on Pirelli That tyre argument is lame, and I agree with what Sumeet has to say. However, if there is uneven wear, that could pose some problems.

I would also advice you to take the car to a competitive wheel alignment center and get them aligned and balanced. Also check if the air pressure is correct. I think that the problem should go away with the above checks.
