Within the city with economic speeds, nothing much should matter. Highway runs, wet roads can be a concern due to the traction effects we have discussed n number of times If you don't see a highway run / high speeds just go ahead.

BTW my stock Good Years NCT 5 stayed for 60K Kms, second change Good Year Excellence stayed only 40K, and now on Yoko dBs. The NCT 5s were almost abused before I changed

A strange problem on my civic. While giving the car for service earlier this week, I was removing the CDs from the in-dash changer. The 6th CD did not come out and now the display says "MECH ERROR" each time I press the CD button. The Honda ASS folks said that they need to remove the changer from under the dash (takes a day) and then send it to a service center which will take another 15 days for repair. Subsequently, I need to bring the car again and leave for a day to get it fixed back.

Has anyone faced this and is there a simpler solution to this. Suggestions and advice needed. Thanks in advance.

Thanks! I do have some highway runs, which is the reason for confusion. I checked the tires, and the front has gone kinda blank :(, while the rear is still holding good. They are the stock Bridgestones.
And for the new, am contemplating on having the Yoko Earth with an up size(albeit, small, from 195 to 205) to 205/65/R15.
To be frank, too eager to make the change

Personally I would never take chances with tyres, I would buy new ones as quickly as possible. But if no highway speeds are expected maybe you can prolong it a bit.

Also it is always better to put better tyres in the rear, there was a discussion in very thread a few weeks back.

Front or back tread life of 4k for a car like Civic is no no especially when you can reach high speeds without noticing. You can also consider Bridgestone Turanza's .You can go for the upsize but do remember below 2 points.
1-The steering will feel a tad heavier.
2-The initial acceleration would feel a bit slower as the car would now would have a broader footprint to roll on.

Get your car to a good car stereo shop who would do the repairs for much less than what Honda would charge. The mech error is common on any issue with the CD changer.You can google same.

Hi Guys,

Have been facing a unique noise from front of the car. This sound is observed while crossing potholes (not breakers, which are smooth) under braking conditions. Also sometimes I have observed the same noise under full steer while moving from stationary condition (like tight parking spots). The sound is like that of multiple coins in a pocket.

This noise started post my annual service at a Honda Service Station, it included normal service and AC Service. Could any loose nut during the servicing be causing this noise?

My Car is a 2008, VMT with 50K on the odo.

But the car makes no noise on cold starts. Other symptoms indicate engine mounts though. Also the car seems to be in that stage of life cycle too. Will check the same and other loose components also.

Went to Honda ASS along with a friend today to get a duplicate key for his Civic since he misplaced his second set of keys.They quoted 8k for a duplicate with remote and 6k for whithout remote.Does this cost sound right to you guys.

So I initially had a problem with my auto tensioner. It would make a grumbling sound at the first start along with a screeching sound which I thought was the belt that goes along with the tensioner. After getting this replaced the screeching sound still comes on the first start. I'm not sure which belt is making this sound?

I run the car on CNG and I've been facing an issue of the car not being able to pick itself up in traffic. What happens is when the car is moving slow, the moment I accelerate the car wobbles as if it's about to go off and sometimes does. This doesn't happen on Petrol though. I've got it check with my CNG provider and there seems to be no issue with it. I also notice a almost grinding sound whenever the car is on a higher gear and is trying to pick itself up. The car is an automatic. So sometimes when you're going fast, immediately break and move forward again, it is at time I hear a grinding sound for a few seconds and it disappears.

Also yesterday when I started the car after I drove her around for a bit and parked for a bite to ear, the car would not start. Everything would come properly, radio, normal indicator lights at the dashboard but when I turned the key the car made a clicking sound for a start but nothing would happen. So I tried a couple of times and but to no luck. Thinking I might need to get the car towed I tried one last time and it started. Any ideas on this?

I got a duplicate key outside hass with a remote for 2500 bucks.Would this answer your question?

The key was made in front of my eyes in half n hour.Both car and the original key need to be present at time of making the key.

Other places can do it in Rs 3000 or less.
