The gears shift flawlessly when driving but im concerned about this knocking issue.
I would appreciate it if members on the forum would point me in the right direction as to what could be the issue or problem

Did a bit of research.
Inspected the engine mounts and they have been replaced.
Its most probably the spark plugs. Will replace them and see if the knocking continues or not.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Guys, these are the pics of the engine mounts of my Nov 2010 Civic, do they need replacement?

If yes, will they be covered under warranty? My car has an extended warranty till Nov 2014.

If no, I can hear a 'THUD' sound whenever the car goes over potholes. Is that normal with Civics or should I get the suspension checked?

Hello,

At present your mounts appear fine.

The civic suspension is much softer than normal.

That apart, do get your suspension checked from an independent, not HASS, garage since you have some doubts.

The mounts do have a sufficient gap in between. It would need attention when the lower end starts touching the base.Till then need not worry just enjoy the car.

Normal. This was discussed a few posts back. HASS here will have no clue about this although Honda itself has issued an advisory/recall in other parts of the world.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Excuse the OT post, but this thread has most, if not all the T-Bhp Civic owners contributing and I figured would be an easy ask!

Just wanted to know if anyone has a similar table for all the variants of the Honda Civic as posted on the T-Bhp Octavia Review.

That's pretty neat. Any chances of a table for the Civic?

Yes, we do have. In fact, a thread itself.

So there is not much of a difference in the features between S and V.

1) Are you sure the S has front fog lights? I have seen cars without it.

2) What is wave key?

3) I noticed 'V' has ambient light in blue? Is that the small LED light in between the front map lights?

4) Were the rear parking sensors standard on the 'V'?

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Had the car dampen yesterday
- 3 layers damping on the front doors (2 layers of dampmat + 1 layer of some special focal damp material on the plastic parts)
- 2 layers damping on the rear doors
- 1 layer in rear parcel tray (where the rear speakers are housed)
- 1 layer in the rear boot.

total:
12 sheets of Dampmat ~11K
1 sheet of Focal Plastic dampening ~ 2.5K

The experience so far:
- the door feels heavy and sturdy and close with a very familiar european 'thud'
- one requires a strong arm to lift the rear boot now. It is heavier than my yeti's rear.
- the echo effect in knocking has reduced very significantly. You can actually compare by knocking with your finger on the non-damp panel and damp panel.
- big plus point is the NVH. it seems almost nil when driving.
- the main purpose of damping was for my new ICE setup. and it does not disappoint.

To tell you the truth, I think my decision for heavy damping was the best investment I had done on my Civic. The NVH and comfort ride is awesome.

Even I would like to know the same. Mine is the 2006 version...which I bought in 2007 just before the first facelift.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

My Civic's remote key fob gradually stopped working. I thought it was a dead battery and got it checked from a watch dealer. He said no replacement battery is needed as the current one had the right voltage.
I came back home and did a quick youtube and found this link. I tried the trick using a 'NATARAJ JUMBO PLASTO' eraser
My remote is working normally now.
