gaurav; Let us be charitable - festive season is coming! Maybe they tried to remove the terminal and clean it and damaged it in the process. The chaps employed for this work will be the lowest of the low!

My Civic is a 2007 model, so my experience is not indicative of the engine mount issue being present in the facelifted models.

I had a chat with a service advisor at Arya Honda and he suggested it could be the dreaded engine mount issue. I am not sure I agree with him cause the other symptoms of this issue which i have read on this forum are all absent. Would appreciate any insights I can get in this issue.

Thanks in advance.
Based on my recent experience, I'm guessing this is the beginning of the engine mount problem. To confirm, you can check whether the gap between the mount and the engine is negligible (see http://anaphoral.blogspot.in/2012/02...ation-fix.html for photos explaining this further).

Hi there,

What are the other symptoms of malfunction of the engine mount?

Can others point to any old thread or posts that lists out the symptoms.

I too am facing shuddering in my 2007 Civic.

Thanks, all.

For one, shuddering at idle speeds is one of the symptoms. Steering wheel vibes more than normal is another symptom.

The reason I am confused is cause I do not have any shuddering or vibes at any time apart from when the car rolls after an overnight halt. And that too only for a couple of meters. After that all is fine...

Please check the handbrake issue mentioned by me before and also refer to above link to check the mount assembly.Check for a fair amount of gap in the mount. If the metallic object is touching the rubber part then the mount is probably busted.

Good luck.

I am really hoping its not the mount issue, Arya Honda quoted about 11k if it's a mount replacement. I won't be able to get it done through insurance and also the car is more than 5 years old so really doubt Honda will help here with the issue...

@arun

i also got my mount changed few months back the cost of mount is 8872rs and labor is 900rs so all in all it was done in 10k at Linkway Honda.

Rates of aarya are higher than linkway.

Thanks for the heads up Jatin. Will keep this in mind when I speak to the service personnel. I will also ask for the cost breakup.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

My July 2006 Civic has just returned from a routine servicing by Apex Honda (Mumbai) at 110,000 kms. Within the first 50 km, I noticed slower roll towards red lights and an inspection showed right-rear brake disc was extremely hot. This had happened about 15,000 km earlier and Apex then claimed that the fix was to replace brake pads (duly done). Now they say that problem is due to brake caliper being rusted and they should be replaced - estimate given is Rs.9,000 per wheel and 10 days to obtain part from Chennai. Has anyone else had a simialr problem, or replaced brake caliper.

My May 2007 Civic-AT has done 1,13,200 kms and so far never had above problem.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

I am facing a shuddering issue on the 2006 civic (52,000 kms) while starting from standstill and trying to accelerate. The RPM stays constant around 700-800 while idling and I can feel pulsations on the steering. (up and down vibrations). As I start accelerating, engine starts stalling and door rattles and then recovers immediately. The starts are therefore jerky. Sometimes I need to crank twice, because when engine starts, the vibration seems to kill the start. Battery is new (12.1 Volts and alternator gives 14.4 volts). Recently auto tensioner and belt were replaced and there is no noise from engine assembly except this shuddering while acceleration. Anyone faced this before, any hints ?

Looks like engine mount issue. You should get it checked ASAP.

re: Honda Civic : Maintenance, Service Costs and Must dos

Hi guys

It happened for me too. 2 weeks back I left my civic for 40K service and have asked them to check for Engine mount condition among others.

Synth Oil Change
A/C cleaning
Wiper rubber replacements
Air filter
Fuel filter assembly
Oil filter

With all the above done, the bill was Rs. 13,362. But it was diagnosed that engine mount was weak and SA quoted me 10K for the job.

Now comes the fun part, I told him that faulty engine mounts were replaced under warranty. He said he has never heard of it and asked for proof. I told him I will send the team-bhp link and did the same. Parallely I called up my friend in Honda Sales and asked him to check up the engine mount warranty policy.

He took my VIN and checked it up. I was told Honda has advised to replace engine mounts of particular series if it genuinely needs replacement. He also asked the Area Service Manager to inform Capital Honda, Perungudi, Chennai to replace my Civic's engine mount under warranty I then followed up with SA and got my engine mount replaced today.

My car is a April 2007 model. Although SA was helpful and courteous it would not have been possible without my friend at Honda.

Overall I am very happyyyy. So henceforth people who are going for engine mount replacements, give a shot at warranty.

What do we ordinary people do for failed engine mount? Hahaha.

Can you share a few contact Nos of people who can be of help.

I too am facing the same issue with my May 2007 Civic VMT.

Thanks in advance.

Glad that our posts here on the warranty front were cited as a precedents.

According to what I was told, you might not qualify for the warranty, if you bought it in May 2007. Apparently, only cars that were bought less than five years ago are covered, and your car is just over five years old.

That said, no harm in checking with Honda and trying to get it replaced under warranty. Hope they do consider your case, as this is a genuine problem with Civics.
