Can you please post a picture?
Its right next to drivers side power window controls black rectangle things. To be exact its between the ORVM adjustment and power window controls. Even LX has it

hey buddy, can you tell me the source of this info? i doubt safari has a heater in its RVM. even the website does not mention it.

TATA Motors - Safari DICOR

i am saying this because recently my brother's safari had a brush with a call centre's sumo and it broke the RVM along with the casing. so i just saw the motor of the electical adjust in it, i dint not find any heating coil in there.

i have rarely used the defogger in the safari and so not observed this, hence i am curious.

hey jay!!

Even at first i presumed it was a dummy switch because thats what the TASS guys told me !! But later our BHPians told that the Power Window lock is only for the rear two windows and not for the front ones!!! So when the the lock is on the power windows switches in the rear doors dont function.

Yes thats the switch. It does look like a dead switch since there's no marking on it! It does however have an LED on it like the other switches.

The ORVMs are heated, at least in my EX - switch the rear windscreen defoggers on and touch the ORVMs after a while. Very useful in the rain as it keeps the ORVM fairly clear.

Its not on the website, but when you break a mirror you will notice the heating element inside. I've broken mine several times, so I know.

Works on my VX as well - very useful when the ORVMs start misting up. And for those who say -

I would suggest they take the trouble of finding out practically. Or, read the Owners Manual, Page 39, which mentions what the defogger switch controls -

Good to see some useful undocumented feature in the Safari. I wonder if we will have some bickering with the competitor's vehicle for this feature.

Edit:
Also, I suppose that for some, the usefulness of this feature will be debatable.

@ suman: thanks for that info. i did mention in the post that the curiousity is because i found no heating coil inside when the RVM broke.

@ sumitb: it was really undocumented and unknown!
no bickering should happen over this topic i feel. what is good IS good! its a very useful feature too, especially for those from north. the 'competitor' DOES NOT mind the positive qualities of any vehicle. if there is something bad, there is something good too.
wish EVERYBODY understood this...
so rejoice buddy!!!

You're kidding, right?

It wont lock out public nuisances, though.

Won't the driver's door lock activate the central locking?

Yes it will, and to deactivate you need to use the lever to unlock twice (or manually unlock one of the other doors, after which you need to lock twice to activate again). I wonder what Jay was trying to say.

Yes and all four doors lock automatically a few seconds after the engine starts up (at least in the VX). Not sure what Jay's confusion is.
