Hi BJ - do you mean Alpine stock HU has DVD capabilities? Are you sure? I was under impression it only reads CD & iPOD...

Mine is VX, year 2009. It has DVD HU- Alpine DVA-9861 (I think) as oem. I have burnt MP3 on DVD and it plays them fine. I have watched DVD movies too and it came with a pair of headrest mounted LCD video consoles.

Apart from the above, it could be a loose connection or your battery cell/ s getting weak , get it checked.

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

Could anybody elaborate on if the Central locking works by car ECM? Or is there any ECM that controls locking\unlocking for central locks?

My Safaris central lock is not working, No lock\unlock either by remote or by driver side lock. Is it a problem of Actuator? Although the immobiliser is working by remote and so do the warning lights. So, I bet its not a remote problem.

Pls go to a T.A.S.S, preferably through some one. Even if you lose a day, pls get it fixed. Hopefull it's just a loose connection somewhere

It appears as if the supply to the indicator panel lights have a dry joint - socket not connecting properly or the fuse holder having a loose fit. It won't affect anything else. Sure - it is an inconvenience.

How is your trip progressing Lodhra other than this niggle?

Have a Nice Safe Trip.

The central locking is not triggered by the ECM/ECU however it triggers the ECU to immobilize in case of an intrusion.

Your issue could be due to the actuator being faulty or jammed.

re: The Tata Safari 2.2L Technical / Problems Thread

Central locking is handled by a separate ECU that also controls the interior lights and window winders.

Wow. BR hills, Coorg, Nagarhole and Kabini - Hills and ghat road. Must be really a wonderful trip lodhra. You must write a travelogue.

You are getting 15 FE in such hills and ghat road. That is very good.

I have done BR hills and Coorg. Want to do Nagarhole and Kabini for a long time.
