Fuel - Shell
Idling in the morning - Yes, 30 secs. No rev till I get out of the complex gate.
Will try IOC normal in the next fill.

Nah! I thought I found the plug you said about and was happy to see it there. I then opened the bonnet and was checking the place behind where ABS thing goes and found a inch dia rubber plug. Just to be sure, I pushed it and it went it!

I thought I lost it and checked beneath the Safari but failed to! I came back and pulled the mats as you had pointed and there it was ! phew!

Again, water is dripping in via the wiring harness. I am giving for checking it up at my local private Tata garage.

Any brand would do as long as it is not premium/speed/TurboJet/etc. Just simple plain regular HS diesel.

I got the exact problem with Shell. Do not use it. Use plain diesel and you will be all set. SAFARI is a home bred vehicle and runs best on 'desi' fuel

@Bose, try 1 minute's idling. Btw, What does your manual say ?

+1 for IOC regular. Even Scorp's are reported to run better with IOC.

IOC wont help much, I am aware of this being reported in many Safari's and firstly I am assuming you have had the Retro done as it also has an ECU firmware update.

Now assuming that, as I suggest to everyone, I suggest you use System D @ 1ml/ltr for atleast 2 tankfuls i.e. pour 65ml System D in first full tank and then when the fuel warning indicator glows fill immediately with apprx 55ml system D.

Let us know once done.

New problem in the safari.
When the car is stationary and I turn the steering wheel, I hear khat khat sounds coming from somewhere below. Its not the "full lock idler arm khut", but comes during turning.

Tanveer, as you said it comes while stationary and if the noise is at regular synced interval, power steering pump could be one suspect, as turning the wheel puts load on the pump. Get the belts, pulleys and pump checked.

Dadu,

His vehicle comes with all the enhancements factory fitted. So that is not the issue. I am hoping IOCL will be able to solve.

I am having a revisit of this issue with the current tank of HP fuel.

Change of fuel company will have no effect, try System D as mentioned previously.

Also try draining your sedimenter. I discovered recently that at the regular service they sometimes "forget" to do so.
Even before your warning light comes on, you will have symptoms like rough idle, and increased idle speed(900-1000rpm) intstead of 800-832
