Please help me to decode the code written on it.

65D26RMF.
What I understood is the first written ‘65’ denotes the Amp and the last ‘MF’ denotes the Maintenance Free.
What is meant by ‘D’, ‘26’ and ‘R’?
26 is the BCI battery group classification. R is the layout which means right. L for left. This determines the terminal orientation.

Re: Car battery life - How long did your battery last?

The stock Exide battery on my Toyota Corolla Altis enjoyed a lifespan of 6 years. The new Amaron battery has now been in service for almost 4 years without any hiccups.

The stock Exide battery on my Maruti Swift Dzire lasted for 5 years and was replaced with an Amaron one till I sold the vehicle 2 years post the replacement.

Re: Car battery life - How long did your battery last?

Hi everyone

My gloster is facing battery drain issues. First time it happened around 20 days ago when it refused to start in the morning. It was taken to the service center where they analysed it for 2 days and finally replaced the battery under warranty saying that it could be manufacturer defect.

Now again 2 days back, i started it around 7 in the morning and parked it outside my house. Around 9.30 am, again it refused to start.. The technician came and jump started the car and again it was found at the service station that battery is empty without any charge left. They have been trying to find the cause of battery drain since 2 days but nothing has come out yet. The alternator as per them is fine and now they are checking the wires for any defect.

Any idea, what could be the cause of such fast battery drain in a new battery?

My car is not yet 1 year old and has munched 28000 kms

Curious to know if you did end up finding out the specification of your battery ? I drive a Freestyle and the battery is up for replacement and I am unable to find out the specification from the manual

I followed the chart from Amaron and Exide.

This is what Amaron says for 1.5 TDCi Diesel engines ->

My battery died on me but fortunately it died while I was at a tyre shop for tyre replacement. They had stock so it was painless experience for me.

Refer here -> https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offic...ml#post5240731 (Ford Aspire : Official Review)

If your Freestyle is a TDCi, then this is a direct fit for you.

By the way, Ford ASC also sales their Ford Branded battery. To be honest, my stock OEM Ford Branded battery lasted almost 5 years without any trouble. They are priced similar, but ASC offers lower buy back for the older battery compared to aftermarket shops !!

Thanks.

Re: Car battery life - How long did your battery last?

I replaced my car's Amaron Flo battery with a new one yesterday. The old one lasted exactly two weeks short of four years. Since it was technically under warranty, a prorata discount was applied on the new battery and I paid 3.8k. This was after adjusting for the old battery and included the Rs 350 I had to pay for charging the old battery to see if it can be used for some more time.

It attained full charge, but the battery shop person told me two of the cells were weak and one couldn't say how long the charge will hold. The car was occasionally hesitant while cranking for the past few weeks, so I told him to go ahead and replace it.

I saw from the old invoice I had paid 3.8k for the same battery in 2019 and it carried a 24+24 month warranty, wheras the new one carries a warranty of 36+36 months. And also seems to be SMF type now whereas the previous one required top ups..

Can you inform the model of the new battery.
If it is Amaron Pro 50B20L, then 36+36 months warranty is applicable.
However I could not find this model from Amaron for the last 4 or 5 years.

On the otherhand if it is Amaron Flo 42B20L, the applicable warranty would be 30+25 months.
Flo model does not last as much as Pro and in fact I replaced them exactly like how you did just before the end of pro-rata warranty.

This did not happen with Pro which lasted more than its warranty period.
I have been buying Flo models and not as happy as I was with Pro models

Re: Car battery life - How long did your battery last?

Statutory Warning:

Guys,
These days it's too hot out there & hence time to get the battery status checked in your car.

Irrespective of the cranking time/ response, one just needs to check the electrolyte level in each cell of the battery by visual inspection.
The electrolyte level is supposed to be on lower side.

Today I just checked the level in the batteries of both my cars as a preventive measure & to my surprise, it consumed total 2 ltrs of Battery Water.
The Exide in my Yeti took 0.6 ltrs and that in my Octavia 1.8 TSI gulped up almost 1.4 ltrs.

Finally, be assured to keep the car idling for some time after topping up the electrolyte level.

It's an easy DIY.

Re: Car battery life - How long did your battery last?

Hi All,
I own a 2019 Nexon Diesel. Need to replace the battery. The Stock battery that is fitted in the car is Exide 48DIN. Seems this is not available in open market. The Battery Shop guy suggested Amaron 50DIN. Since I was not sure of the effect that the difference in spec is going to have the electricals in the car, didnt buy it. Checked the owners manual and to my surprise the recommended battery is 12V DIN55. I am mighty confused

1) Any idea why Tata used DIN48 for stock battery when the recommended was DIN55?
2) Is it safe to use DIN50 when the stock battery is DIN48?
3) Or should I move to DIN55 as per owners manual?
4) Thinking of either Bosch or Amaron battery. The experience with Bosch battery for my Petrol Zen was very good.

Any pointers will be very helpful.

Re: Car battery life - How long did your battery last?

I bought my XUV 300 W8 Diesel on Jan 2020 and have changed the battery on the month of May 2023. So approx 3 years 5 months and 35,000 kms's. As it was Exide then it got dead all of a sudden and I was stranded in my Apartment Basement until help arrived from a nearby battery shop. Got another Exide from the same shop with old battery exchange value of Rs. 1000/-
