At times more you put the worse it gets. Big companies always have not one product but many. All have differing quantities of the main ingredient of wax. Some add silicone oil, solvents etc. Nano products like the word means small. One nanometer is a billionth of a metre. You can get various definitions on google for the size. The technologies available are both organic or inorganic. Organic are polymers which form these tiny sheets on the clear coat on reaction. The inorganic ones fuse to the clear coat. The idea is to put these nano particles on the paint and create the lotus effect. Water could just form droplets or sheet off depending on the chemistry.
Thanks for your insights. These nano-products you mention, when are they likely to be available? The end result on Baleno looks smashing. As per your post, these products should be available in 2010. Well, we are nearing end of 2010 .

Pimp my ride

Guys put your hands together for the main artists, supporting artists and special appearances who make up a blockbuster movie called "BLING"

Most of the products have been centered down and hand picked after a lot of trial and errors.

MF cloths are from 3M,Wurth,X-static and Eagle1. MF duster is from X-static. MF Wash mitt is also from X-static. I also have a MF glass cloth from X-static.

Products that I use other than these are:
1) Turtle wax rubbing compound
2) Armorall Tyre gel
3) Armorall windshield cleaner &
4) Armorall wheel cleaner

^Congrats!

Nanowax liquid does dazzle up the paint quite good(as it contains some carnauba) but you have to do a follow up coat every week or max every 2 weeks to maintain that shine.(It isnt that durable)

You can use pearl glo as a quick detailer.

Do comment on the xstatic microfiber quality and whether they effectively pick up lint, dust etc.

Re: Car Detailing?

Hey Guys:

I want to get car detailing done on my car. I stay on OMR in Chennai, the nearest car detailing services I could find was Alphazee. Has anyone got their car detailed at Alphazee. The charges seems to 4000 INR for my fiesta.

1, How do you rate their work?
2. How do you rate their charges?
3. Are there better alternatives in OMR/ECR?

Best,
Fatboyslim

Re: Car Detailing?

Hey guys,

What is the difference between the pearl glo & metallic shine polishes from formula 1? The former is a white bottle & the latter is a blue coloured bottle.

I have used the metallic shine & it does a brilliant job, however, I have noticed that too much of it can actually spoil the paint. I was wondering if pearl glo might have more carnauba content.

Drive safe.

Pearl glo is a quick detailer. Will give your ride instant shine but wont last for long, max a week.It does contain some amount of wax hence offers certain degree of protection.

Metallic shine is just polish.Makes your paint shine but offers no protection.you have to follow it up with a coat of wax to seal the shine

Re: Car Detailing?

@fatboyslim: If you can drive to nandanam, try out Privilege Car Spa. They are amazing and the owner is a very sensible gentleman. If your appointment early n\and trust me you wont be disappointed. There is a good thread with pics on them. Alphazee is not worth it based on my experience and car spa is miles ahead of them.

thanks mate for your response. And I have another query on this note, which is that I found the metallic shine really strong & should I consider the pearl glo also as being of a similar strength?

When I say strong, it means that upon applying a little too much, I could see discoloration & smudging on the paint work of my car.

Drive safe.

Re: Car Detailing?

Guys, want to get my ride fully detailed (insideand out). Any suggestions for a good place in Hyderabad?
Have tried Carz Spa @ InOrbit Hall for complete steam wash & polish - not very impressed with the quality of the job. Could have been a one time 'bad job' for them, so might try them again.
Would appritiate suggestions for a better place.

Re: Car Detailing?

I used cyclo max clean for interior cleaning. It was good and the interiors feel fresh. Once the car came back from service it was yuck . Grease, grime, dirt every where. I have no mood to clean again. I gave to my friend who is running profession car care service. He use Wurth products. After 5 hour job the interior was sparky clean looks like just came out of the factory. They did a good job on polishing the exterior. Final step is finished with polymer pain sealant. He told me not to wax the car as the dirt will stick on to the car. The surface of the paint is so smooth now. I am simply wiping with micro fiber to remove the dirt. Some pics from my mobile camera.

Car Detailing?-autocleaner.jpg

I bought this Autocleaner from Armorall thinking it will leave my car interior shining and new but i found out that i didn't work as expected. Not only it did not clean most of the stains it also left my hands with a very slight burning sensation while i was using it.Tried it on the wheels and again it failed to clean well enough.I bought it from Reliance mart for 292.50 and feel all that money's gone to waste. It's only good for the windshield even if the product label say's it for all kinds of vehicle surfaces.
