Electric Power Steering Vs. Hydraulic Power Steering

I was just seeing the responses that I got from another thread where I had a question about the power steering. So here I thought I would enhance my knowledge about Power Steerings.
As per my knowledge the merits of the Electric Power steering are:
1. Since it is a seperate motor that helps in the working of the steering, it doesn't draw much energy from the engine and increases fuel efficiency
2. Maintainance is less compared to Hydraulic PS.
Demirits are Cut-off after a particular speed (50-60 kms) and less comfortable compared to Hydraulic PS
The Merits of Hydraulic PS are:
1. No Cut-off like the electric ps and more comfortable to drive.
2. Less steering Play compared to electric PS.
Demirits are More maintainance and since it draws energy from the engine, less fuel economy.
I would like to confirm whether the statements given above are correct or not. Also I would like to know why most of the automobile manufacturers still promote Hydraulic instead of electric. It would be nice if more points could be added to make the comparison more clear.
Thanks..

I guess that the art of using a motor to control the steering is patented.
