Help! Car submerged in flood

Considering the amount of water that car was inundated with, thats a very nice return to action.

@Jaggu - I haven't tried anything yet. They are blow drying the lights. The reflectors seem fine though the left has a wee wee bit of flaking at one edge. It's the headlight glass that's getting misty.

Another thing he mentioned was that the exhaust pipe had sagged a bit and was scraping ever so slightly. They have fixed it. Not sure whether this is anything to be concerned about. He re-iterated that cat-con is fine.

@razor .. missed another auspicious day:( Latest update, not before 23-24th. CC spare not coming in this week. Car is ready otherwise.

ok if its just mist leave the lamp open for a day in the sun and it will be sorted, but if the glass is dirty also then wash and dry.

exhaust pipe sagged? scrapping where?

Not bad at all after being under water for 3 whole days. I am sure you cried to sleep everynight thinking of the arrow under water.

Looks like things are shaping up and shes holding up well. Keep us posted ....

Use the headlights as long as possible, the heat of the bulbs should dry them out shouldn't it?

Nah. Stuck due to the climate control spare part.

Apparently, the spare that was sent, based on the part number, had a circuit board missing. Now parts supply says that the new CC sent, matching the part no provided, does not come with that electronic bit. Whereas the OE CC has that bit.

So loadsa confusion. Technical service guys taking snaps of the item, sending it back and forth etc. Me getting a tad p***ed off now.

Add to that there was a lull for a week due to the Pujos.

Once the CC comes, they'll need to plug it in, polish the car and that's it. Of course, after delivery my ICE damage assessment will begin :(

This is to add further clarity to my last post. Went to the workshop today to take some snaps. CC is a SGP.

OEM CC console, with the 'Green thingy' in the rear. This is attached to an IC inside. And the wiring harness plugs into this.

Replacement part with the 'Green thingy' missing.

The part number, printed on the console is the same for both. Workshop had asked spares division for the part number printed on the console. Distributor has given the console without the green plug, claiming that the console does not come with the green plug. The green plug in itself does not have a part number.

The workshop tried a workaround. They took the green plug from the OEM console and fit it in the new one. This did not work. Awaiting a Maruti senior tech manager tomorrow to have a look and propose a solution.

Btw, the situation with the AC is - it turns on when the car is started. So AC is working, but it cannot be controlled by the CC switches.

Good to see the silver arrow back in motion.
As u know CC is a SGP, it'll take some time. Have some patience everything 'll be fine soon.

Oh, she has been ready to be driven since the past 2 weeks. But I haven't taken delivery. Will do only after CC is sorted out since it's linked to insurance. Never know if some other part might also be required.

Car came home today. 36 days after she went to the workshop. Total bill around 30K. Insurance paid 13xxx. I had to pay 16xxx.

Feels lovely to drive. Somehow seems quieter and smoother. But then that could well be since I was driving a 6.5yr old Baleno over the last month, which needs a few rattles to be sorted out.

Right, but Murphy ain't in the mood to give up yet. AC is switching off after around 30 seconds, automatically. This is what happens.
- Switch on ignition/Start the car
- Switch on AC. Works fine. see panel pic below

After 30 secs odd, AC cuts off AND the temperature reading vanishes !! At this point of time, all blower settings work fine, but the AC refuses to switch on.

Now if I switch off the engine and start the car again, AC starts working .. for 30 secs and switches off!

What has me stumped is why does the temp reading vanish? Normally if the compressor cuts off, the temp reading is supposed to stay on.

@BP, this CC is different from the one on the Swift.

you can check the thermostat coupling. almost a similar thing happened to my car when the coupling was left open after the installation of the FFE.
