Brand-New Hyundai Alcazar | Two battery failures & battery discharging issue

Hi Everyone,

We purchased the 1.5 Turbo DCT Signature 06STR on 29.09.2024, replacing our beloved Toyota Corolla Altis (which, admittedly, felt like sacrilege — but unfortunately, we had no other viable option at the time). Despite being less than six months old, our Alcazar has already suffered two complete battery failures, where the car wouldn’t unlock or function at all.

First instance: Hyundai blamed a faulty battery and replaced it after keeping the car for 3-4 days.

Second instance: They initially suggested we had left the headlights on (which wasn’t the case). Only after taking it to the service center did they acknowledge the "12V battery discharging" issue affecting the new Alcazars.

Now, we're facing the same issue again, and Hyundai’s service team has been unhelpful in providing a permanent solution. The dealer has also been unable to offer any clarity. Given that the car stalls if left unused for just 3-4 days, we’re seriously considering selling it. This situation is simply unacceptable.

Has anyone else faced this issue? If so, have you escalated it to HMIL and received any meaningful response? Any guidance or additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

This seems to be quite a big problem and that too with a petrol automatic car, you never know when your car will die in the morning. We too had a Pre-facelift Alcazar in the diesel manual avatar but sold it later due to the diesel being lethargic in general but never faced such issues.

Hyundai generally has good after-sales service and is eager to solve customer problems, it's better to go to the biggest dealer in your city for a proper resolution.

I own a 3-month-old Alcazar Signature 7S. I have seen the message, occasionally - Battery discharging due to extra devices on the screen when I switch on the ignition. It was intriguing as I had not put any additional devices in my car. Once started the message disappears. It also doesn't happen every time. Can the Bluelink connectivity be the culprit?? It keeps on updating the car's status though I have never used it. Is there a way of switching off the Bluelink connectivity?

Get the Battery and the concerned wiring checked for leakage current through an individual reliable Battery Dealer/Workshop.

Try visiting another service center, they may be able to identify the issue and will probably solve it.

Thanks for the info! To clarify further, I have attached an image received from the dealer. It is clearly a manufacturing defect, however Hyundai is yet to confirm the course of action to rectify the matter.

Thanks for the link! However, as evident from the image, it is clearly a manufacturing defect that Hyundai is still evaluating. This image was shared to us almost 2 months ago now.

As I understand, this is more to do with an issue with the new Alcazar as opposed to a dealer issue. The Hyundai R&D team is yet to come up with a solution.

Has anyone else been shared this notification after buying the Alcazar?
