Hopefully M&M would have resolved this issue of rear suspension/differential hopping being reported by many owners in social media on the 4x4 variants especially when you reverse out with higher revs a situation one might encounter when reversing on a steep incline or over some obstacle.

Reversing onto a slippery steep incline. Have to see if the Roxx behaves the same in that.

Has anyone tried this with the 3D Thar or Gurkha? Good to know if this is a non-issue on other 4x4 vehicles.

I'm more interested in seeing the ScorpioN doing it as the suspension setup is similar.

And if someone can do it again on their Roxx with Traction control set to off, that would be helpful.

Have had similar experiences in some south india hill drive where coming down a steep hairpin bend (right turn bend) and a huge truck or bus blocked the way. Had a to reverse on the steep upwards immediately and that needed some raw power with the reverse gear.

Is the reversing issue only with 4x4 vehicles? It seems to be happening even when low range isn't activated. So maybe the issue is also with RWD vehicles? Will Mahindra issue a fix or claim that this is better for getting traction in these scenarios and it's a feature, not a bug?

Take a look at this! For a brand new showroom car this is how the seats looked

Aftermarket seat covers seem like they're mandatory at this point. Should be resolved in 20-25k for leatherette seat covers in any color of your choice. Tut-tut the cost-cutting from Mahindra.

What is the issue? The twitter post did not explicitly write down the issue (which for me is red flag #1. The poster does not want to be clear).

I'm just seeing videos of what appears to be people trying to intentionally wheelspin their vehicles in reverse gear, with 0 elaboration.

What is this supposed to highlight? I don't understand if this is a legitimate problem, or a made up issue caused by improper vehicle usage to garner social media points (because which actual normal owner tries to wheelspin their vehicles in reverse?)

Refer to this post on the same page/thread. Seems like a video explaining this hopping issue identified.

When one is stuck in a tricky situation on a slippery slope perhaps & would require maximum traction from the wheels which hopping doesn't provide

Tried reversing on a basement parking ramp. Its not obviously "mountain steep", but steep nonetheless coming up from the base. Sedans and hatches of the yesteryears will find it somewhat difficult.

It was absolutely effortless on the ROXX. Of course I didn't need to do 4000 rpm to get up, so I am not saying the videos are hoax, but just wanted to share my experience here.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Found a video of Jimny on instagram and the axle hopping issue is there too.

Here's the link https://www.instagram.com/reel/DByMF...lzc3pmZXR6cDM=

I doubt that Mahindra didn't test the Thar Roxx for every possible fault in all these years!
I'm no expert but would like to see the same tests done on ScorpioN, Endeavour.

I would like to quote my own post and point everyone towards another post that details similar trait observed across other 4x4 SUVs. So, I don't think it's an issue at all and people should just enjoy driving this sexy home made Jeep

I believe the following post on X from motorbeam handle demonstrates the same:

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx Review

Guys, avoid testing the rear axle, as it could damage your new Thar.

Great review observations glad you agree it is way way above the 3 door experience and in another league now.

This is a very normal phenomenon in almost all 2 wheel drive (mode) fixed axle rear wheel drive vehicle with decent power output. As other video suggests, if one really wants can be replicated in any of the other modern vehicles also.

Just coz someone found the concept of axle hop and decides to make a click bait video out of it, does not really make it a real issue

And this is brilliant, how click baity can a video be? engine blown after testing axle hop! Some serious jokers we have on social media who will spew out misleading info for just the sake of more views... Would be fun to watch further updates on this.
