The only thing other than this available is Manufacturing date and Engine Number. At present i'm not getting that. If available i'll provide you at the earliest.

@Wildon - I am curious to know how decoding is done? If it is not confidential, could you please share it? If you have already shared it in one of those 76 pages - please let me know so that I can search for it - I couldn't read through all 76 pages.

@ magnanimousdude - Isn't July 2010 a bit older considering that you're booking now? Generally how old vehicle one should accept? I am booking my GP tomorrow and I think I would be fine with Sep/Oct but nothing older than that. What is general recommendation for this?

Hi Wildon,

Thanks for so beautifully explaining the procedure to decode the VIN for Honda City AT. Can you also please explain what does the 'Grade' stand for?

Thanks in advance.

No. Wildon can give his expert opinion but I think a car manufactured 2-3 months back is absolutely fine.
The latest, the better. If you want Sept/Oct make car, you can check with your sales man for the VIN of the available cars in his stock. If a Sept/Oct make is not available, then you can "book" your car and get a fresh piece delivered. You will have a waiting period of around 2 weeks IMO.

its not old, you just have to see that it fits the compliances i.e BSIII or BSIV as long as its BSIV its fine for me cos as concerned with me there is NO change in power, change etc

Absolutely true, my story is i generally asked for the WINE color and so do the person who booked prior to me. But unfortunately they sent Nova White so the dealer asked me that "SIR, now you are booking a WINE Color, but a NOVA white is readly available as the earlier person booked WIne but Fait mistakenly sent with WHITE so you can readly take one you have the money". i Checked the Year of Manufature, checked whether the car is in good condition and whether its BSIV and accepted the offer gracefully.... i think its wise....

Start reading from Page 59 onwards and you can find the method of decoding for most of the brands.

You won't believe these dealers are excellent story writers. We badly need them in Bollywood.
