Volkswagen VIN Decoding

Volkswagen VIN Decoding

Volkswagen (VW) VIN contains 17 Characters and you can find this on the bottom left side of the windshield (Passenger Side)
Finding the VIN & manufacturing date/year on Indian cars-dsc05988-medium.jpg

The 4th Character represents the Month of Production
and
10th Character represents Model Year

If the 10th Character is found as B then the model is 2011.

If you purchase a vehicle in 2010 and found the 10th digit is B It doesn't mean that it produced in year 2011 . It only shows the MODEL YEAR

Rest of the MONTH Codes are follows

A= JAN
B= FEB
C= MAR
D= APR
E= MAY
F= JUNE
G= JULY
H= AUG
J= SEP
K= OCT
L= NOV
M= DEC

Does Form-22 and VIN really hold their significance?

A dealer told me that there is a 2009 Model Fiat Grande Punto 1.3MJD Emotion Pack still lying with him that somehow failed to find a buyer in 2009.
He says that there is some "10-15k discount" (the car is more than 8 months old, 2009 make BS-III and yet only 10-15k) on this car if someone is willing to take it and they will sell it as a 2010 model by making changes in the papers for the benefit of the buyer.

Now, if Form-22 and VIN holds its significance to this extent, how can he make changes to the Form-22?

Everything is possible here.

Help with VW VIN

Hi Wildon,

Can you please help decode this for VW Polo:

Chassis Number : WVWG10605BT000564
Engine Number : CJL 013677

Having read through your earlier replies, this looks like a July 2010 manufactured car, but a 2011 model. Any additional information that you can supply, please (specially on the lines of the detailed sheet that you had pulled out for Avon).

Thanks in advance!
