Recommended AdBlue brands for BS6 Diesel cars

Currently we are away from our hometown and our Jeep Meridian and today showed warning of low DEF. We need to leave tomorrow early morning for Hyderabad from Bangalore. The Shell fuel station had PowerOil AdBlue. Specs wise it does look fine, but can anyone confirm using the same AdBlue for their Jeep cars? Is that safe?

I recall my cousin using DEF from a brand called Velvex in their Compass but my understanding was that DEF from any reputed company was okay as the composition should be the same. Not to drift from your primary question, but we have used different brands in the Fortuner without incident.

It's good and I have been using for my car (not Jeep though) and should be good. Just check with Jeep if you have time. As many manufacturers initially used to insist using their own brand else compromise on the warranty.

Ideally it's just like engine oil or similar consumable - can be of any good brand/grade.

Re: Recommended AdBlue brands for BS6 Diesel cars

Update

I reached out to my car sales advisor and he mentioned that spec wise it is similar to Jeep's own; namely it is AUS 32 and ISO 22241 compliant so it was safe to use. So I have already used that already and drove from Bangalore to Hyderabad. it has been two days now and (touch wood) it is still going good. I had also reached out to two service centre advisors (who had interacted with me in the past for my car's servicing). They responded much later. One recommended not to use that and another one asked me to check with someone else.

Adblue is nothing but a mixture of urea in mineralised water. As long as it meets the basic ISO standards, brand/seller shouldn't matter.

Of course. If you were to know the mark up on branded Adblue, you wouldn't be surprised with such advice.

While on a road trip recently (Pune - Varanasi), *every* petrol pump on the highways in MP/UP were selling Adblue (marketed by Tata) that was stored in large tanks. The price was about Rs. 10/litre. While Toyota for instance sells their 5 litre Adblue can for ~400.

The reason for my caution was this experience by a fellow BHPian. In his case it was a Tata DEF which was ISO 22241 compliant but not AUS 32 and it seemed to have stalled his Jeep Meridian.

Re: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Review

Can someone guide me on DEF/AdBlue filling situation in Bangalore?

Can I just walk-in any Shell petrol pump and get it refilled or is it advisable to get it done in a showroom?

Shell doesnot charge for filling, you can get AdBlue from any reputed brand. IOC has is too and is a bit cheaper. Ensure its not expired and once opened consume same fully.
