Conversion to single mass flywheel from dual mass Friends,
I own a 2005 Skoda Octavia 1.8T petrol. Its clutch has become very stiff of late. There is judder also on first gear start from standstill. Overall it has become quite lethargic. With mostly on stop start drive on the ORR in Bangalore, pain in the left leg is increasing.
I have decided to replace my clutch. Of course this will need flywheel replacement as the dual mass flywheel (DMF) is the first culprit in these situations.
Having went through so many posts on Briskoda.net and other forums, my plan is to get a single mass flywheel (SMF) and associated clutch kit with release bearing.
Sach VR6 clutch with G60 flywheel is the most recommended combo for this conversion link
But I could not find any ready source here in India. Getting it shipped from abroad will be too expensive.
OEM is the Luk brand from Schaeffler.
Their Chennai dealer (Namo auto ) has the ready stock of the OEM dual mass flywheel clutch kit at Rs. 26k
He also mentioned about having the the single mass flywheel conversion clutch kit for Rs 12.5k. But the only problem is he refuses to share any picture or part number for this. Saying that it will come in Luk packaging. This got me a little hesitant.
He says he sells 20 pieces of this every month.
Anyone here ever did a DMF to SMF conversion? I found only one video in YT about this in Mumbai. Any help is appreciated.
Fordday.
