Skoda uses Fully Synthetic oil for their engines. This prolongs engine life. Do not top up with normal engine oil.. Get Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40. That should do. Also check your Owners manual for specs.

+1 to ksethuram's statement. All Skoda *** use Shell Helix Ultra and it is the best oil for your Laura. The change interval is 15k kms or one year whichever is earlier.

require engine oil for laura pd

My father's laura 1.9PD is due for an oil change.

i am not able to get the engine oil conforming to vw 505.01 specs which is approved by skoda. Service FAQ

All the spare and oil dealers i have checked are having maximum mobil1 confirming to vw 505.00 in Bombay.

Have already checked with shetty motors in opera house but according to him vw 505.00 mobil1 is the highest grade oil that he has.

Don't wish to take it to the Skoda A.S.S.

Any help will be appreciated

thanking you in advance.

According to the site of gurudev motors, authorised skoda service centre faqs Service FAQ Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 meets specs for petrol engines only whereas for PD and diesel engines they specifically mention VW 505 01 grade only which the above mentioned oil doesn't confirm to.

You could try your luck

There is an oil thats meant for the Cruze and as per my checking out on the net its one of the high spec oils. Its manufactured by TOTALELFFINA. Its a synthetic oil and comes in 25 liter cans only. I have requested the company to release 5 and 1 liter packs for the after market and do not know whether they have complied. You could check out that oil if it meets the Laura PD engine specifications. Its called TOTAL Quartz Energy 9000.
ITS EXCEPTIONAL FLUIDITY WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE !

Internationally there is another oil called the Total INEO range. I do not think there is another oil that can better this presently as far as specifications are concerned.

Thanks drpullockaran for the info.

just checked the link for total quartz 9000 but it meets just VW 505 00 specs and not VW 505.01 which required for skoda Laura.

thanks drpullockaran

Ineo MC3 meets my requirements perfectly but had already ordered for shell helix ultra diesel va from Shetty motors. After insisting on this specific grade oil he agreed to get it for me within 4 days. the said oil is a very slow moving item so no one has it in stock.

thanks will try to get Ineo MC3 for the next oil change.

I had a bad experience with nummer eins with octavia 1.9td.

i had changed the timing belt with them charged around 12.5k for it at around 75k-80k kms and was also given back the old belt. After 5k to 10k kms the belt snapped somewhere around ankleshwar highway, on examining the belt it was found that it has cuts all along the belt rubber was hard and the mechanics were positive that belt was not replaced. after repairing the car with oems parts outside the car worked well for around 20-25k before it was sold. didnt take up the matter with skoda as the agency of nummer eins was already cancelled and frankly didnt have time to run around these guys.

The charge of A** are also quiet steep for parts and labour. just for comparision wheel alignment and balancing is rs1200. the shell oil i got is a 5lt can for rs 2900 @580/lt A** charges around 900/lt + vat. or may be more havnt visited the skoda A** since 2yrs.

its better to replace things in skodas from a reputated garage but only with oems parts any duplicate part doesnt last even 1/4th the life of oems. Skoda cars are great but service from A.S.S is a big disappointment.

Re: Which oil for diesel Skoda Laura?

Hello BHPians, I was wondering which engine oil should i pour into my Skoda Laura 2.0 Diesel Automatic (2011). I gave it to the mechanic and he has accidentially poured Castrol Magnatec 15W 40 , which is not the recommended grade to my knowledge. Will it be ok to continue with this oil till next servicing ( I havent driven the car since the the oil with incorrect grade has been poured in) or should I get that changed to 5W 30 ? Also, which oil would you recommend as I have never used any oil other than Castrol Magnatec in any of my cars till date.
Thanks in advance.

Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 synthetic was the default recommended oil for the Skoda back in '11. Please check your owners manual for exact specifications

Re: Which oil for diesel Skoda Laura?

I'm in the process of planning an oil change for my trusty 2008 Skoda Laura 1.9 TDI(Type 1 - Octavia Mk2 1Z3) and would greatly appreciate your advice on a few key points. Here's what I'm curious about:

1. Engine Oil Recommendation: With around 1.5 lakh+ km driven on my car, I'm seeking recommendations for the best oil to use.
Oil tank capacity 4.3L
VW grade: 505.01
I've previously tried Liqui Moly TopTec 4100 5W-40 and Amsoil European Car Formula, both with decent results. Now, I'm considering trying out Molygen, but I've heard mixed opinions about its suitability for older engines with higher mileage. If you have any experiences or insights regarding these oils or recommendations for other engine oils, please do share!

2. Additives Inquiry: Alongside the oil change, I'm contemplating the use of additives, particularly Ceratec and MoS2 Anti-Friction Engine Treatment. I'm also curious about your thoughts on cheaper oil treatment options like ABRO, STP, etc. Are they worth considering, or should I stick with more established brands for better results or even avoid using oil additives altogether?

3. Best Diesel Recommendations: Recently, I've switched to Shell V-Power Diesel, despite its higher cost compared to other diesel options available in Mumbai. However, I'm open to exploring other diesel options or considering the use of diesel additives instead. I've experimented with various additives such as
IFTEX® Clean System D,
Liqui Moly Super Diesel (LMSD),
Liqui Moly Diesel Purge,
Abro and STP additives,
AMSOIL Cetane Boost, among others, but each seemed to yield different results.
What diesel do you recommend for optimal performance(HP/ BP/Iindina Oil/ Shell), or do you have any experiences with diesel additives worth sharing?
Your insights and experiences would be very helpful as I strive to maintain my Skoda Laura in top condition. Thanks.

Re: Which oil for diesel Skoda Laura?

1. Amsoil/Liqui Moly/Meguins are all good and best that money could buy.

2. Mos2/Polytron is good additive to be added, make sure you reduce the oil quantity as per the quantity if additive to reduce the chance of overfill.

3. HP/ BP/Indian Oil
