Since I didn't get a call or any confirmation from the dealer about the status and progress, my father, father-in-law and I along with a few others paid a visit to the dealer. We were awestruck by what we saw they had done to the brand new car which was just 10 days old at the time it malfunctioned.

They had totally dismantled the car and removed everything from the inside and were fixing wires by hand and whatnot. I don't believe the young technicians had any idea of properly fixing it. Everything was thrown around the workshop in the open which will surely pick up scratches and oil and dirt. Multiple parts had their locks broken. It was just a painful sight.

Such a horrible experience. I can't even imagine going through all this with a new car! Generally, I don't agree with customers asking to replace their car with a brand new car for small issues. But seeing the photos here of the car being dismantled to this level to fix some wiring issue, and that too without the owner's permission, I don't think the customer should except anything but a new car.

Just keep all photos and evidence ready and escalate this to the highest level possible. File a case in consumers court if you don't get a quick resolution.

Welcome to Tata. The official review has still not dropped on post sales experience with Tata products – hit or miss.

Though the company has come a long way from TELCO (when I purchased my Indica) to TML with an impressive lineup of products, the plant QA/QC and the after sales can bring tears and frustration. I have recently purchased MG ZS EV and was quite tempted to consider updated Nexon EV with a long list of features, the most tempting one was vehicle to load.

This should be escalated in my view. Compromise on factory fit will result in rattles even if the functions are revived and the car is drivable; and certainly, no excuse for keeping owner in dark. The car manufacturer and the dealer, none of them have a lien on the vehicle post sales, how can they open a product without the consent of owner is beyond me.

Is it wrong to hope that things might change because we have Mr. Shantanu Naidu as one of the newest members?

I do hope he takes note of these and a 360 degree change happens in this company.

I shuddered looking at those sorry pics, a brand new car just absolutely gutted. Damn.

Very sorry to see your car in such condition Mr Nathaniel, I can put myself in your shoes and understand on the ordeal which you will be going through. Please look at ways and means to escalate it TATA top management so as to it is taken seriously.

How much ever they produce good and safety cars, this is one area TATA is not able to pull up the socks. There is no need for a 5 star rated car which is going to visit A.S.S frequently. It’s ok to have issues, but if you repeat the same issues then you are not putting a proper governance in place. I am starting to lose faith

Another Tata car, another poor QC, another ASS horror story. It’s just never going to end, or is it!?

Such a painful read.. feel sorry for the owner to be going through this nightmare. Though I really hope things will work out for him, I have little to no confidence in workmanship of Tata ASS. And the way the car is being handled, I’m very sure it will have many “souvenirs” at the end. Absolutely ludicrous! Just yet another reason and a rude reminder not to buy a TATA car.

Honestly, this might come across as slightly insensitive, but what did the OP expect?
Dual clutch tech is a car that very few have been able to get right, and it's a very high maintenance tech, best used for high performance applications like racecars.

For Tata who aren't a manufacturer you would associate with QC, to launch a dual clutch gearbox makes no sense, and neither does it make sense for any buyer to put their money on a non-proven Tata product.

Hang in there OP, things will (hopefully) get better.

Such a sorry sight! My sympathies with the OP.

The new Nexon is doing 15K+ sales every month and we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg here. There'll be majority of the owners who might not even wish to report such issues and just deal with it or there maybe a few unaware that they can take this issues with someone / somewhere.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting any radical change in their newer launches, and dare I say that the new Nexon, Harrier & Safari are all hurried launches which for sure will be plagued with issues. TATA hasn't learnt a thing from the 1st-gen Harrier fiasco. Shame!

People can brag everything from being 'vocal for local', 5-star safety and the likes; but the ground reality is - TATA cars are simple not trustworthy. More so, when they are the most expensive in their respective segments.

These regular events prove that, in the end, expertise, commitment, and professionalism are more important than having many service centers. Tata has emerged as a formidable rival with Nexon and Punch, yet they have consistently faced off against Skoda, Nissan, and Jeep in their battle for poor ownership experience.

Very unfortunate to see someone's new car in that state.
My concerns with the "all digital" instruments in Tata cars seem to be turning true. While the ground reality of the their "hit/miss service" is still a fact.
Seems like something wrong with the wiring?

To be honest any thread reading something like issues with a new Tata car. Nothing personal but its just fatigue as I roughly know what it contains and will end with a hope that it gets resolved for the owner. This one's no different, sadly.

Very unfortunate, but at the same time this is more or less par for the course with automotive brands like Tata. I hope you get a proper resolution to this which is a replacement car and no less. Do not hesitate to involve lawyers if need be, and if it's within your means and time.

This is also why whenever friends and family ask me for macro level brand suggestions, I tell them who not to go for and Tata is top of that list. Alongside a few of the other usual suspects. We, as a country, go too easy on the corporations who think it's alright to sell us lemons with little to no backlash.

So what happened finally - did he get the car back or is it still at the workshop

Honestly - if Tbhp is so active in putting up "my car broke down threads " we should also verify the complete details , all I can see is a car in a workshop with technicians working on it.

Agreed that the parts should not be strewn around - but that is the norm at ANY authorised workshop in this country and is certainly not a TATA only phenomenon .

Agree - However its such a sad state to see that People are still willing to spend their time, effort and money in this "Hit or Miss" concept - its like gambling - knowingly that your winning chances are always minimal. I sincerely believe what we public does with Jimny - that made Maruti lower down their pricing - the same way - people need to show-down these car companies whose ASS is like what is says
