Mahindra XUV300 owner awaiting spare parts (faulty linkrod) since five months

Found this tweet to Mr Anand Mahindra by one Mr Abhishek Sharma, who says his dealer Unnati Mahindra, Pune, has not been still able to source a new "link rod" for his XUV 300 since five to six months. The XUV 300 is incidentally still under warranty. His tweet and an attachment by him with the tweet will illustrate the XUV 300 owner's agony are as hereunder.

His tweet to Mr Anand Mahindra :-

Quote:
@anandmahindra @MahindraRise @Mahindra_Auto

I guess M&M should also declare the discontinuation of Xuv300 similar to Padmini , 6 months gone by and you guys are not able to provide the spare parts to authorized Service Centre

What a shame for organization like Mahindra.

Mr Anand Mahindra's tweet from yesterday that triggered this XUV 300 owner's reply!

Quote:
From today, the iconic Premier Padmini Taxi vanishes from Mumbai’s roads. They were clunkers, uncomfortable, unreliable, noisy. Not much baggage capacity either. But for people of my vintage, they carried tons of memories. And they did their job of getting us from point A to point B. Goodbye and alvida, kaali-peeli taxis. Thank you for the good times…

re: Mahindra XUV300 owner awaiting spare parts (faulty linkrod) since five months

The link rod is basically a balance rod or an anti roll bar for the axles to keep them in place. We very well know the latter two terms that are more commonly used. I was unsure about what a link rod as stated by the owner is and had hence put it in inverted commas. It is a basic feature to ensure safety and stability of a car.

A link rod is a simple wear and tear part and there is no reason why the part should'nt be in stock. I suspect an issue of handling this matter from the dealer end.

I'd wait to hear the complete story before coming to conlusions.

Re: Mahindra XUV300 owner awaiting spare parts (faulty linkrod) since five months

I simply cannot fathom how someone can have to wait so long for parts for a made in India product. Recently there was another thread about a Tigor awaiting parts post an accident. Is this really the case? I struggle to believe it is since I don’t have to wait this long to get link rods changed even on my Kizashi which was a global failure, brought here as a CBU and whose Sagara plant where it was manufactured in Japan, has long since been shut down. Is it really impossible for customers so expect parts to arrive on time or is this as someone else suggested, an issue with the way the dealer is handling this particular matter?

From the tone and tenor of messages, the owner of the XUV 300, still under warranty, appears to be insistent that Mahindra needs to honour and fulfil its warranty clauses.

Some further action on Twitter or X

Mahindra' Customer Care's response:-

Quote:
Hi @Abh1sh3k_s, we have forwarded your details to the senior management of Unnati Motors, who will get back to you tomorrow (31st October) by 12 noon to facilitate necessary action. Regards, WithYouHamesha

Replies by Mr Sharma the XUV 300 owner:-

Quote:
1. Yeah the called back. 7 months is an insane time for arranging a spare part still askin for 7 more days.
Irony is they said link rod is not a necessary part of the vehicle and vehicle can run with a broken one who in Mahindra Research did timepass putting link rod in Xuv300 then?

2. A shortage of spare parts is what they are claiming yet there's no shortage of new model launches. 😂 Sad but True.

Re: Mahindra XUV300 owner awaiting spare parts (faulty linkrod) since five months

There was a silent recall issued by Mahindra affecting late 2022 and early 2023 manufactured XUV300 with faulty link rods. Too many users were affected and from then, there's part shortage. In Facebook/Telegram groups too, hundreds of owners are complaining about this issue and are waiting for parts 2 to 3+ months. This part is mostly out of stock in boodmo too. Some owners have changed link rods twice or thrice and still face issues repeatedly.

1. Mahindra should bear the costs since the warranty is still active.
2. If he sources from elsewhere, Mahindra will reject every claim citing non authorized work.

Re: Mahindra XUV300 owner awaiting spare parts (faulty linkrod) since five months

Part supply and logistics at Mahindra's end are really bad these days. I had to wait a month plus for regular parts of Thar, a bracket and axle, which have a known design defect.

Not a single dealership in NCR has these parts in stock. Even low volume brands such Isuzu have such thing readily available in stock. Not only these parts more expensive than Isuzu they time required is atleast 4x incase they need to be ordered. Only stuff they have in stock are consumable service parts.

And I am still awaiting parts.

Could you please shed some light on what the design defect in the axle is?

The holding bracket of the right axle breaks and axle boot ring slips out. Axle boot ring slipping out is even more common.

Re: Mahindra XUV300 owner awaiting spare parts (faulty linkrod) since five months

I can very well understand the agony faced by OP.
I have bought my car from Unnati motors as well, been cheated by them, and they are extremely slow with sourcing parts.
They add you into a new WhatsApp group each time you take your car for servicing, ranging from the advisor to some top level management to make sure the customer is happy. Unfortunately, i don't even think they check their WhatsApp messages, since i have been waiting for a couple of parts myself and have highlighted the same on the group, it goes ignored with no one wishing to reply or taking any step ahead.

I hope he receives a quick fix after waiting for so long!
