Exhaust system rust & repair

So my Verna fluidic (petrol) exhaust pipe assembly has got rusted from several places and the mechanic has advised to get the whole thing changed.

Around 8 months back when this occurred for the first time, he simply welded the area. This time, that particular area is fine, but the exhaust pipe metal has chipped off from another place and my otherwise noise-proof car has started making growling noises.
Have made up my mind to go for the whole exhaust assembly change. (unless the experts here advise otherwise).

Just wanted to understand, is it advisable to go for some exterior paint or some kind of anti-rust solution on the new assembly before it is installed? The mechanic has quoted 5500/- for the job. (and it is not steel)
Any other do's and don'ts you would want to advise ?

Is Rs.5500 for the entire silencer assembly plus the anti rust solution?

The 3M anti rust high temp spray works well

You will need 2 cans for the entire silencer coating

re: Exhaust system rust & repair

It is not the entire assembly. As I understand there are 3 parts to the silencer. Front, middle and the rear part.

Acc to him, only middle and rear part needs to be changed. The cost of Rs 5500/- quoted by him is for this middle and rear part of the silencer/exhaust pipe assembly. It does not include any anti-rust solution.

My question was should I go for anti-rust solution? Acc. to the mechanic , any kind of painting or rust solution is not advisable on an silencer/exhaust assembly.

Since you are going for an aftermarket silencer, it is better to coat it with some protection so that its protected from elements life is extended. You do not know the quality of material used in the aftermarket silencer. Better to err on the side of caution.
