Gear lever play in OHC VTEC.

Somebody please explain what is this gearbox beading ?
Ford service adviser told that my gearbox beading has cracked in fiesta 1.4 petrol and needs to be replaces. Cost estimate is ~3200Rs.
He said it cracked because of car bottoming out at speed breaker. He told I can continue driving and change it in the next service since I am not getting any vibration on the gear lever.

Is it safe to drive around with cracked gearbox beading ?
