Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

I cannot say for sure since I've never worked on one. But all modern fuel injected engines would have to include fuelcut to pass emission regulations. So theoretically, yes it should have.

So to sum it up..there is no fuel being fed into the engine when the car is coasting, I.e car in gear , clutch disengaged, zero accelerator input.
But then I could drive continuously in the above manner and there would be no fuel going into the engine.
I know it's not possible in reality but say I have an empty road , I accelerate till 60 kph, remove the foot of the clutch and accelerator while the car is still in gear.
Doing this the car starts to coast. So in this period there is no fuel going into the engine. Hope I've understood correctly.
This way we can get an amazing fuel average. Correct me if I am wrong.

D13b6 Li 1998
D13b6 Li 2000
D13b6 Exi-g 2001
D13b6 Li 2001
D13b6 Lxi-g 2001
D13b8 Exi-g 2002

Which of these would be the OHC that I have.
2001 1.5 exi City.

After years of searching I have finally found a website which has diagrams of most of the parts of the engine, body, transmission etc.
These are exploded views of each item. I am guessing these were or are part of a service or workshop repair manual.
But before I download the images I wanted to know which city was mine from the list above.
They had more options but then those were for the NYC and anhc. Wikipedia says the engine for 1.5 is coded as d15b.
But some other website says its coded as d13b.

Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

None of them. The closest one would be the SOHC ZC Non-VTEC. The City 96-03 (mk1 and mk2) is a crapshoot of about 5-6 different Civic and CRX models. It's as if Honda raided the parts bins of all the cars they were manufacturing internationally and took a few parts from each of them.

The 1.3 corresponds to the D13B4 I believe.

The 1.5 VTEC (engine + transmission) is a *******ised child of about 4 different engines, and still has a few components that are not found on any other car anywhere else in the World. It wouldn't be right to even call it a D15B. I have resorted to calling it the B15C2, which is what Honda named it. There's too much difference between it and the D15Bs found internationally.

Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

I just put my baby in for some serious overhaulin.. didn't realise i'd end up spolshing 22k on just spare parts! including new Depo headlights, clutch set etc etc

I'm hoping all this loving gets her to go on another 3yrs at least.. though I desperately need to upgrade my ICE (audio speaker setup) cos both the front stock Clarion's decided to start sounding like torn tins.. not to mention the sound damping material looks worse for the 12yrs of wear .. bordering on rag cloth!

If anyone knows a good place to get my audio setup upgraded including wiring/sound damping (not over the top expensive.. but good work) in mumbai.. please let me know.

Would also appreciate some suggestions for ICE upgrades pls! I already have a good HU, the Clarion DXZ-785USB .. but have to swap out my stock speakers all 4.. and maybe consider a sub+amp.

Anyone with some good pointers.. please chip in! thanks!

What all you bought?
Plz do share the prices also as that may be helpful to other people on board to have a realistic idea for estimating their plans and will give a comparison of prices in Mumbai w.r.t. in Delhi.

Thanks!

Thanks!

yeah will be doing it once i get the time and my car back from its workshop visit.

BTW.. guys.. would this kit from Philips work for the OHC.. swapping from halogens to HID?

http://www.lighting.philips.co.in/v2...jsp?id=1012984

If i understood correctly... that kit should be a direct swap for the halogen bulbs?? So i would not need projectors?

Since i've finally got a new pair of HL's I need to get new bulbs in there too n was thinking of getting this Philips kit.

The stock yellow halogens really don't throw out much... and I'm still unsure about going for the usual Diamond Vision/Crystal Vision/Nightbreaker halogen choice again

Sure then you can put up the photos too!
How much difference was there b/w Stanley and Depo pair, here in delhi its only 1K.
I think you just need a compatible relay and good quality wires along with it.
How much heat it produces as if it is over the tolerance of the Depo plastic it will damage the HLs. So do make sure all aspects and DO DO share it here. I am also due to replace my OE HL halogens as well as dashboard and trunk ones.

Have always wondered what these are for (circled in red). Are these purposely left open for a particular reason ?.
Also was wondering if any of you'll have ever removed the front fenders in DIY project or at a garage.

No cel coming. No problem otherwise. Only thing is that I can't track speed and distance.

3 places to check. The gear going into the transmission. Cable at the tranny end. Cable at the cluster end. You should get a check engine light if the speedo is not working.

This is a fault with the VSS which is plugged into the transmission. this feeds the tacho , speedo(not sure) and ECU. Without a proper VSS the engine runs on preset values and mileage drops and may experience stalling.

This can also be just a blown fuse.Same thing happened to me once.

Check the fuse box - Below the steering column to the right.

If this is the issue just replace the fuse and you are good to go.
