Re: Major engine problem in a 40-day-old Jeep Compass

With each passing day I'm getting more convinced to stay away from Jeep. It's is already considered as an unreliable brand in USA, unfortunately Jeep is considered as a luxury or a semi luxury brand in India.

I am quoting his ordeal below for you all to read. The same has been posted on twitter but the issue seems to be going nowhere as of now.
Read a horror story involving a new Polo stalling and the dealer turning the other way. These horrendous stories never seem to end. This is where our lowly Marutis score not to forget the Koreans In Action. Maybe when the NCAP India kicks in next year, we will have a better bouquet of choice. It should put the Germans in their place.

Dear All,

I am too facing similar issue and less than 80 days into purchase, my vehicle stopped on a highway at midnight risking my family. Upon frequent follow ups they said rocker arms are broken and will replace them. I have rejected their offer and have asked for the new replacement. I told them that I will press gor legal and since then no email response. They call and update and they write nothing on email. My vehicle is still with them after being towed.

They said the the very same to me. That they have never dealt such before. My purchase was on 1st sep 2022. Let me know if u want to connect and fight it out legally.

Here's to hope that with such experiences shared, wisdom prevails and buyers stop putting their hard earned money on this shit brand.

Totally unacceptable purely from a product quality perspective, it doesn't even matter how the situation gets handled and whether they rectify it to the satisfaction of the owner.

These kind of problems indicate clear incompetence at Jeep's global design division as well as the local assembly facility.

A brand that doesn't care about its products cannot be expected to care for its customers.

Unfortunately the public at large is unaware regarding jeep Q&C/Reliability. And at the price niche they're at now,no real competitors. This why they seem to sell.Maybe hycross can be considered an indirect competitor depending on the price.

Now the car pays a visit to ASC once in 15 days and stays there for 2-3 days, planning to sell it off. The extended warranty is intact but with the incompetent service network, we can’t trust the vehicle in the longer run.
I really hope engine change that has been approved by Jeep solves the issues and your brother enjoys the ownership of the vehicle. Good Luck
Sorry to hear that, did you sell your JC? Also I am planning to buy a used Petrol AT, would it be reliable? Whats your opinion?

Re: Major engine problem in a 40-day-old Jeep Compass

I got rid of my Compass 2021 version Diesel 4x4 AT Model S, after getting stranded 3 times, each time due to a different part failing.

Beware, the resale market for Jeeps is very bad and you would be luck to get even 50% of your purchase cost from the buyer within 3 years of purchase.

Jeep India sells close to 300 cars a month(includes the compass + wrangler + meridien), Jeep is not a competitor for any other car brand in India at their existing level of products.

They sell because there still are people who want their cars because of the way they look and feel, and are ready to take a chance on them, just like most of us on this thread did.

Any Jeep vehicle which is out of extended warranty is a risk to purchase.

Yes, that's true. I was checking the resale value for petrol models. I agree, it looks the part and feels good to drive but reliability and peace of mind are an issue for my use case. But the Jeep brand is internationally known to be unreliable. They are the Royal enfield of cars I guess with a loyal fan base.

Petrol would be even worse since they dont even sell it anymore, the diesels are atleast being sold for now in the Indian market, and yes, Jeep globally seems to have one of the worst reliability when it comes to quality and service.

Hey! No, I haven't. Shifted to another city and the car mostly stays parked for 7-8 months. I only drive it when I am at my home, doesn't cause any trouble in that tenure. Fingers crossed on that.
I think we have better cars now, if you are looking at petrol automatic. The stories of poor aftersales have dropped, probably due to decreased sales. The future doesn't look good for Jeep from my perspective. Hope you have a good purchase and many happier miles.
