Re: BS6 diesel car owners: Have you faced DPF-related issues?

Voted: Never

Year & Model : 2021 Toyota Fortuner Facelift 2.8 Diesel AT (DPF + SCR -With Adblue)

Mileage - 13,000 kms

Time Duration- 1 year +

Usage Pattern: 60% City & 40% Highway.

Ive been using this car for over a year now & never faced a single issue. Id say 60% of my commute is within the city. However my commute is rarely shorter than 15kms or about 30 mins. Regen happens like clockwork every 150-200kms. Always refuel from COCO BP bunks.

Agree, that is good info to have. I have a Gen3 Hyundai Tucson with the 2.0L diesel (SCR based). It’s run about 8K kms (mostly highway) in about a year, and never faced DPF issues.

Thanks for the clarification about the XUV300.

I knew that the 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel in the Marazzo is SCR based (had seen a video about filling AdBlue in that car), so assumed the other cars using that engine should be SCR based too. Seems odd that the same D15 1497 4-cylinder engine is used in both, but one uses SCR but the other uses LNT.

Couldn't vote. But would have voted for Never.

Model: Oct 2021 Mahindra Thar Diesel Manual Hard Top.
Current ODO: 25000
Usage: 60% highway, 40% City

Being my only ride, the car is driven for short distance too. But I tend to drive with a heavy foot as and when possible. I also did 7000 km roundtrip from Bangalore to Spiti Valley in July 2022 & never faced any issues.

Re: BS6 diesel car owners: Have you faced DPF-related issues?

I would not call it an issue, but once I got the message "Filter overload, Drive to clean" on my 2021 Ford Ecosport. I usually do not drive much inside the city, however, I observed that from past few days my car was primarily being driven in slow moving traffic by my driver who usually drives in higher gears at relatively low RPMs. I dialed SVC immediately, to which the response was to drive at around 80 kmph for about an hour or so. I got it sorted during the first service which was shortly due. I didn't notice any changes in the drive quality, only irritant was the message being display at the start which hampered my peace of mind.
My best guess is, the error occurred due to the continued driving in slow moving traffic, and didn't occur again with me back to swift drives.

Re: BS6 diesel car owners: Have you faced DPF-related issues?

Ford Ecosport 2020 March Titanium Diesel

Run 38000 km

No DPF issues till the 20E05 recall. Post that I got the entire gamut of notifications from “Exhaust filter overloaded drive to clean” to “Exhaust filter at limit drive to clean now”. When they come on every time you switch your car on, they get on your nerves.
It cleared after a drive of about 50 km at about 60 kmph in 3rd gear at around 1800- 2000 rpm.

This keeps happening every month and I have been doing a DPF clearance run on a sunday morning every month for the last 3 months.

My daily run is of about 50 km with bumper to bumper traffic for 40 km and a byepass run of about 10-12 km.

Now they have announced the 22E06 recall, hope something good happens.

Re: BS6 diesel car owners: Have you faced DPF-related issues?

Voted: Never
Car: Fortuner 2020 Pre-facelift
Mileage: 28000 KM
Usage: Intermittent usage with car staying stationary for 2-3 months at a time. Otherwise 80% on Highway and 20% in City with some <5 KM trips here and there.

Except topping up Adblue maybe 2 times, no intervention was ever required.

Re: BS6 diesel car owners: Have you faced DPF-related issues?

Voted Never hit DPF issues.

Car - Hyundai Tucson GLS CRDI 2.0 Diesel
Model - 2022 BS6
KMs - 21335
Age - 6 months
DPF-Related issues - Never so far
Driving pattern - 70-30 (highway-city)

I don’t think Hyundai’s R2.0 engine does a regen so I’m not quite sure about that. Apart from filling adblue every 7.5-8.5k kms, zero issues so far.

Re: BS6 diesel car owners: Have you faced DPF-related issues?

Unable to vote.

Ford Aspire 1.5 TDCi Titanium+
Model - 2020 BS6
ODO - 43xxx kms
Driving pattern - 80% highways, 20% urban roads.
Recall - Overhaul of DPF/EGR related components complete under Ford's official recall campaign.

My issue has been well documented in a seperate thread for Ford 's poor BS6 DPF implementation. However, the engine's unresponsive behaviour to throttle input (at rpm above 1800) has virtually disappeared over the last few months.

There has been no change in my driving pattern. And I have never driven the vehicle under these so-called specific conditions to manually active the regen process.

Re: BS6 diesel car owners: Have you faced DPF-related issues?

Nice poll. However I don't think the result would give a correct idea for the state of BS6 Diesels in India.

Almost all Bhpians - Love to Drive and there is no way their BS6 diesels is eating dust in the parking hence finding an issue from here is a needle in the haystack. Primarily BS6 Diesels are troublesome if sparingly/not used.

Re: BS6 diesel car owners: Have you faced DPF-related issues?

Voted NEVER.

Drive : Mahindra Thar 2020 BS6 Diesel MT
KMS RUN : 16000
Ratio : 80% City 20% Highway

Since January 2021 till now apart from a 2500km trip right at the beginning of ownership and one trip of 600km all other mileage is clocked in short city drives of 2 to 5 kms long & I have never faced DPF issue. I am not a sedate driver nor am I a speed freak but I avoid sudden throttle inputs and try to drive smooth.
