How accurate is Skoda's mileage data shown on the MID?

Wow, these figures are too tempting. I am divided between going for a suv 2L petrol vs 2L diesel and more worried about the city mileage.
A friend of mine who drives a superb (petrol) on similar traffic conditions tells me his average is about 7 in city and 10 on highways. This would be a disaster for the mileage conscious me.
Any figures from the 2L petrol folks?

i've a 2.0 TDI Laura. In my experience over the years, the MID figures are optimistic by 0.75 kmpl or thereabouts compared to tankful to tankful method. I would say it's largely accurate unlike few other MID values, say the new Thar. FE in below snap is after a 630 km highway trip with AC on right through, where it has also been driven spiritedly at least 200-250 kms. A sedate style of driving within 120 kmph sees it consistently displaying 26-27 kmpl. VAG diesels are extremely frugal, there's no reason to doubt the MID.

Just a quick question folks,

I won Rapid 1.6 TDI and If the car left idle for some hours, the Avg fuel consumption is reset to 0 by itself. After starting the car, the Avg starts from 2 KMPL and then increases based on driving condition..
Is it normal ?
