Just curious, how old is the car and what is the current odo reading? |
As mentioned it's a 2011 October bought Passat and has done 84,000 Km till date.
Always serviced on time at the Authorised Center in Chandigarh and any niggles or mechanical issues too have been attended to immediately at the same center.
The issues that have cropped up now, have done so one after the other in fairly quick time and been fairly expensive.
The Car has been very good to drive, but I'm quite fed up with the numerous problems and lack of repair options in any place near me except Chandigarh.
I've also owned a 2005 Innova that did 270000 Kms with no major mechanical issues ever, so I'm feeling a little wistful for such reliability.

Such reassuring words by the chief himself besides personally reaching out to the affected owners. What more can you demand as a Skoda owner? Hope the top honchos at Ford are listening and one would've liked to see them taking such actions with related to their DPF complaints. Folks at Ford, in case you didn't know, this is how you get it done and not by being in denial mode or remain incommunicado. |
As per the company claims, they have tested this platform across India with different climatic conditions and geographies for more than a year with million+ KMs clocked. I'm just wondering what kind of testing they were doing when in a few thousand combined KMs within a few weeks of launch, such malfunctions came out. :Shockked: Any excuses like new launches, platforms etc. are lame IMO.

D or S?
D tends to shift up around the 2000rpm mark, favouring smoothness and economy over performance. Could also be in the interest of longer life of that gearbox!
S on the other hand tends to keep the rpm higher than 2k. Doubt if the old 1.2 TSi or any competing automatics in this price bracket can keep up. |
Reassurance on twitter from Zac himself is a good move but what will matter in the long run is the actual resolution of the issues, the speed & quality of resolutions and how they treat these customers through that entire process.
It is extremely distressing when your new car is broken in a weeks time. Am not sure if it inspires any confidence even if Skoda is going to fix things - once bitten twice shy. If Skoda is serious, folks with serious issues should simply get a new car. Those with less critical issues should not be charged for fix and get compensated - extended warranty is always a good thing.
Its really crucial for Skoda to have a good customer experience now with Kushaq else the new launches Skoda is planning are going to be DOA. They can kiss good bye to all those targets they had set up for themselves.

OT:
Kudos to Zac for being so active on customer engagement. :thumbs up
But he says thousands of cars delivered which isn't right as they've despatched 1822 units in July'21 (first month for Kushaq) and most of it would've been display and TD cars. Niggles are fine but breakdowns (already 4 reported in this thread?) on a relatively lower base is a concern. :thumbsdown
Got a Skoda Kushaq yesterday in our extended family. I did find some quality check issues. The left side cladding near front wheel is loosely fitted. One clip inside the bonnet is not there. The car was not clean as per our satisfaction when we got our deliver.
We understand it is not a big deal, but it can scare you for sure. After all its Skoda.

Not a big deal as you said, but not acceptable at all. There is no way QC team did not come across the loose cladding. They just decided to get away with it.
But don't let these dampen your mood. You will forget all these once you take it on a long drive.clap:
So now the company "normalizes" quality control issues publicly? Are they saying that they are playing with customers money and sentiments to test their products in the real world? This is ridiculous. Even a single breakdown should not be tolerated, forget acknowledged as normal. They are not some overnight assembly garage. And even those guys do a better job of assuring the quality of their repair/fitment.
At least with Skoda you have the reassuring thud when closing the door to keep you company when the car breaks down. Just keep opening and closing the door to reassure you of the purchase you made when waiting for the tow truck to come pick up your car.
On a serious note it's shameful that handful of new cars are breaking down within days of ownership. What's even sad is the company head is publicly talking about Quality Control mistakes. Had it been a Tata launch, this thread would have been on top for a month !

Nothing should be "no big deal" when it comes to taking the delivery of a brand new car. Did members of your extended family not do a PDI, or atleast an on-site inspection on the day of delivery? The showroom needs to be taken to task for passing-off a car in such appalling fashion. More than that, as
RD150 and
nitkel mentioned, this points to shady QC on the part of Skoda at the manufacturing level itself!
These breakdowns sort of buttress the long held sentiment about trust and service issues with VAG cars. Skoda did seem to have a winner on it's hands with Kushaq, but I was just not impressed after experiencing the car recently. The quality is nowhere near what one would expect from VAG otherwise; all this talk of "Made in India" with majority Indian components etc is just a load of marketing crap, intended to make the real factor of cost-cutting smell good. Zac Hollis terming the breakdowns as normal during launch phase is downright insulting TBH, considering that customers have put in their trust and hard-earned money. Trivialising that is like rubbing salt on the wound. Hope the unfortunate customers are heavily compensated by Skoda! A breakdown within days of delivery is a serious matter and there should be hell to pay, without a shadow of doubt. As
Akshay6988 mentioned, if this was a Tata or Mahindra, people would have been demanding heads on a platter by now!

We have read almost all the plus and minus points of the Skoda Kushaq here. The operation related minus points now come to the fore post delivery commencement.
The breakdowns and the poor fuel efficiency are matters of concern. The very recent breakdowns including gizmo glitches and stalling are reported. There could be more unreported ones - Skoda and its dealers will know.
The recently reported high sales figures from Skoda are mostly owing to the Kushaq. They plan to increase the number of dealers from 105 to 150 by December 2021 and ultimately to 200. Again all these figures are courtesy the Kushaq euphoria.
The Kushaq is under focus as the two decade old auto maker with its so far laggard sales has come into the limelight with the new launch.
The pre launch hype generated could recede if the negative reports continue.

This thread is reporting more failures that positive reviews. Waiting for owners reviews of kushaq.
If this trend of failures continue, then people would loose interest before VW announces the prices for Taigun by Sep end.

PDI? The car was booked in June somehow got the delivery yesterday. For that we had to pay 100% advance almost a month prior. Sales person stating the High Demand of Skoda cars and the long waiting period demanded full money while booking or no car. I was particularly amazed at 100% advance payment days/weeks/months before and no guaranteed delivery date after that. Such was the heist if you may say :Frustrati
We have spoken a lot of Hyundai's and Kia's and Maruti's safety ratings, but these apparent reports bring one thought in my mind. To be worried about safety and crash rating, your car first needs to run properly. I think, we will have to talk about that basic feature first and then features like the door thuds, safety features and class leading handling.
In particular, if one asks me, my personal opinion is decade old Rapid inspires more confidence and looks well put together than these new models now getting launched by VAG.
Well, it's sad to hear about all these cases. But I am sure, Skoda is paying attention to all these niggles and will come up with permanent fixes soon in the next batches of Kushaq.
Be it Skoda, Mahindra, or Tata, all the manufacturers should take QC quite seriously, and should not resort to the testing done by the actual customers.
Further, I will be going for a PDI of a Kushaq this weekend; not for me, but it will be for my best friend who booked it last month and is hopeful to get the delivery by this month-end or the 1st week of September.
Well for me, the Next is on :)
