For answer to both your questions, may I suggest you look at the entire Petrol Innova threads to get some idea: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-...7l-petrol.html (Review: Toyota Innova Crysta 2.7L Petrol AT)
Less relevant is the manual petrol version link with its mileage mentioned at https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-...ol-review.html (Garnet Queen: My 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta GX MT Petrol Review)
The summary which can be extrapolated from the links above:
1. Mileage : Assume petrol mileage as half of diesel (5-6 kmpl for Fortuner in city from the links above to be extra cautious) and then with your running you can plug in the numbers to see if the gap of 4 lakhs takes 3-4-5-6 years to recover.
2. Resale value: Currently, this purely depends on whether you stay in Delhi vs Rest of India. In Delhi, due to the rules for diesel vehicles, a long kept petrol vehicle doesn't have much difference with a diesel one initially and a huge difference in favour of petrol as it closes in/crosses the 10 year mark. In Chennai though, wouldn't be too surprised if the number of Petrol Innovas (forget Fortuner) is extremely low in the online car portals. That should give an idea of current resale scenario with current rules in Chennai.
Interestingly, the diesel Fortuner is almost certain to get replaced next year as per their Chief Engineer with a diesel hybrid though the price is only going to go up further
All the best in your decision making process
