How do I add cruise control to a Maruti?

Hi guys, i'm a new member to this forum. Being spent decent amount of time in viewing a lot of posts and topics on DIY's, i pretty much started to learn a lot of the mechanics that goes into a car. Performed a lot of small and nifty DIY's, thanks to the brave and curious members here.

Straight to the point, I own a Brezza ZDI variant which cost me almost 11.5L on-road back in 2018 and has clocked 32k on the ODO. Being a 2nd top variant, unfortunately misses out on a lot of tech such as the push-start, cruise control, TFT MID and what not!.
I dont even have the privilege of an ORVM indicator at this price point, leave alone electronic folding ORVMs

I always wanted to upgrade it to the max I could from the 1st day of ownership. Some of them came true after I came across this forum. I have pretty much seen a lot of OEM upgrades going into MSIL cars but none with cruise control installation.
After driving the latest gen Honda City CVT for a long stretch, I was on cruise mode for 80% of the drive. Realized the comfort of cruise mode here.
Most of my drives are in the city and a few long drives to my native(approx 400kms) in a year.

There are people who have cruise control add-ons in Hyundai and Toyota cars but this plug and play technique might not work in MSIL cars I guess. In recent times, MSIL has been giving this feature even in the base variants of ciaz, S-cross, XL6 and the petrol Brezza gets it in the ZXI too.

I did some research online regarding this. The parts that are different from the ZDI+ which has the feature and the ZDI is the CABLE ASSYCONTACT COIL and of course the cruise control switches.

The part of ZDI

The 2 parts have a common layout but the ZDI+ has an extra coupler while the ZDI has a dummy one.
The ECM might have to be coded for the same to work but I have little to no idea about it and the service center guys refuse my request as usual.

If anyone has tried this add-on I sincerely request you to guide me through the same.

Thank you,

I'll say you'll need to get the clock spring from ZDi+ variant, sames goes for the cruise buttons too.

But before sourcing them, try and lay your hands on the service manual/wiring diagram (pin-out) for your variant as well as the ZDi+ variant to see what wires are missing and if it would work 'if that missing wiring' is connected to the ECU from the steering control harness.

Cruise control 'feature' is best left to be implemented by the Manufacturer.

Retrofitting such a feature, brings with it many associated risks, like for example, cruise control not cancelling itself instantly when required etc.

My personal advice would be to stay away from retrofitting such devices.

I agree with you on this point. Since the top variant of the vehicle already gets a factory fitted cruise system the lower variants might just be missing the physical controls. If that's the case, just connecting the switches to the already existing couplers might work. Else, if coding has to be done to the ECU, there are chances it may fail to work as it is supposed to.

Welcome to the forum. The Brezza ZDi indeed loses on so many great must have features.

I know of people who have retrofitted cruise control in their Brezza from the Xroaders and Club Brezza Whatsapp groups. Details are also available on the Facebook page of these. Please search for it. As far as I remember, it would cost around 20K for everything.

Re: How do I add cruise control to a Maruti?

Just watched a video on YouTube and felt that it me relevant here. I'm sorry if I'm putting it in a wrong place. Mods please merge it with a relevant thread if you feel so.
The video is about retrofitting cruise control in base variants.

Note: I'm in no way associated with the manufacturer nor I'm a promotor. I've not even seen or used this gadget. I was just genuinely impressed by the video

Happy crusing to all

Re: How do I add cruise control to a Maruti?

Some of us in Bangalore got CC installed on S cross delta. A friend from Hyderabad helped in installing the same. He has done it for few more models including Brezza ZDI.

It requires visiting MASS once to enable cruise control flag in addition to a wire to the ecu, changing switches and the steering roll connector.
