Re: Bird droppings causes paint corrosion in Swift

Bird poop is definitely bad for your car but it resulting in corrosion as depicted in the pics is unlikely. I have had one of my cars parked at a location which led to lot of bird poop getting accumulated daily. It was a horrendous task getting it cleaned daily and resulted in a very poor paint finish. The car is in its 10th year and now showing some signs of rust but not at areas that were actually more prone to droppings.

This is a comparatively new car and like most car companies the first thing they ask owner is "Sir, where do you park your car?". If you mention words such as open area, on the road, beneath tree then your case is closed mentioning the same. They would not bother to actually diagnose the actual reason as its quite unscientific and also difficult to fix.

I would suggest to pursue it further with them. Try to give your reasoning around the area impacted and the way corrosion is happening. Maruti has had a decent record with paint jobs. Their paint depth and finish is not like germans but they do a decent enough job to avoid corrosion on cars for atleast initial 5 years. I am sad to see your swift in this condition and hope you get to a reasonable solution.

Re: Bird droppings causes paint corrosion in Swift

Man I just hate this , it irritates me !

Just yesterday when I took my car for washing , I could see multiple spots where the paint had a dull finish due to this bird dropping!

I try my best to remove it at the earliest but at times I miss some of those and the impact is

I tried rubbing it off with my polish but it remains there. Does any one have few tips to reduce the "dullness" caused due to bird droppings ?
Waxing / Ceramic Coating / Professional polishing ?

Try isopropyl alcohol. I tried yesterday, it worked very well. Unfortunately it will also strip your wax, coatings, etc.
