Diesel engine - White smoke on morning starts

White smoke is unburned fuel. It could be due a number of reasons as listed down in the posts above, make sure that you have it properly diagnosed first. Have the A.S.S. scanned your ECU and checked for any errors logged?

Update:

Used Liqui Moly Super Diesel Additive for 2 tankfuls and the smoke has reduced by 70%.

Do I need to use it once again?

Please advice on how can I fully eliminate the white smoke.

Did you check and replace your fuel filter (aka diesel filter)?

Yes, it was replaced 12K KMS ago.

my 2008 swift vdi has run 2,20,000kms and for the last 3 to 4 months I have noticed white smoke on cold starts. The amount of white smoke varies . As usual the dealer(Sai Service, Ernakulam) did everything they know including EGR valve Cleaning, Changing oil etc. Finally came to the conclusion that the car needs injector replacement, that too all four. They quoted me around 75000/-inr for the whole exercise. Finally One of my friends suggested me a FNG and they adviced me to service the injectors before making replacement. Went to DIESEL INDIA and they found that the valves in one of the injectors was faulty, replaced those and touchwood...the smoke diasppeared.Its been more than two months now and the car is running fine till now.

I went to their kottayam branch...on the way to kumarakom...Cost me 7000/- INR by the way!!
