Have mentioned about Piriformis syndrome on page 4 of the same thread (Post no.58).
Sometimes Piriformis is not well detected.

Medically, it is wrong to attribute the deep vein thrombosis in this person just to the long drive + tight attire + AT. Most likely this person had some underlying medical abnormality (susceptibility factors or risk factors) which predisposed him to develop DVT. That is why apparently trivial events triggered DVT in him while a lot of other people who are exposed to such situations do not develop such complications. While immobility is a well known risk factor, thousands of people travel long distances (like transatlantic flights) and do not develop DVT. There are many genetic and other factors which can put people at risk of blood clots (thrombophilic states). I am of the view that it is wrong to attribute the complication to AT, long drive etc without first ruling out such medically well recognised predisposing factors. The news paper report has no mention about tests for thrombophilic states being performed in this patient.
This is not as simple a thing as it is made out to be in the report and I think there is an element of 'scare-mongering' involved in this story.

Re: Pain in left leg while driving. Is the AT responsible?

Hello,

I'm facing some discomfort and pain in my left foot while driving my Ameo DSG. The left most part of the foot starts paining after a little driving say 30 minutes or so. What I feel it's the dead paddle positioning in this car to be blamed. 1st ,it is very small in comparison to my foot size (11) and 2nd it's inconvenient due to my body stature as well (6ft 120 kgs). I'm planning to totally remove the dead paddle as I can't think of changing the car as I bought it in Jan 2020 only.

Kindly suggest the best way out to fight the issue.

Thanks in advance.

Stay safe from the pandemic.

Re: Pain in left leg while driving. Is the AT responsible?

Hey there spirits999,
I know this is an old thread but I searched the web and stumbled my way upon here. I've been driving an AT for almost 6 years now and since my left leg mostly remains stationary on the dead pedal, I have started to notice a twist in my left leg outwards and that has seemed to affect my walking and the way I wear shoes. Knee hurts sometimes, but manageable. Let me know if anyone else also faces this issue.

It would be helpful to have more context by providing additional data, such as the make and model of your car, as well as how much time you typically spend with your foot on the dead pedal.

I ask because some vehicles have poor ergonomics, such as the i20. I avoid using the dead pedal because it lies in an awkward position.
