I am not too sure with this analogy of any remap = adding more bullets to a gun in Russian roulette. From what I read on internet, TVS DSG remap promises better reliability and operation of DSG. Does anyone in this forum has personal experience about DSG remap and how does that affect the long term reliability (increase or decrease)?

I have been a huge fan for the TVS maps. To be fair, most of my friends who run a ECU remap on their Polo/Rapid/Vento TSIs are fairly positive and recommend getting a TCU map even before remapping your ECU.
This might be really controversial and a huge amount of people stand against this but for most people who get a car out of the factory, are not in the requirement for that extra power, not mentioning half of them are boys my age who somehow convince the family to get a stage 1 on the car.
But jokes aside, the people who actually need to see a good difference in their driving experience or the ones who take their time in building a project car mostly opt for a TCU tune before getting the ECU remapped. A lot take it to Stage 2 all at once, because we all know the notorious DSG boxes from the VAG groups. Especially if they are those dry clutch gearboxes. So getting a TCU tune would really help you if you are going to pursue a good build in the future as it not only enhances the driving experience but also helps the car in a lot of technical ways.
I being a 1.0TC owner somewhere really miss the DSG.
Not very sure about the difference in long term reliability but surely all the people in my known using the map are a huge fan of it. I have not yet heard any issues in any boxes or cars because of the TCU tune.

I am looking to remap my 2016 Skoda Rapid 1.5 TDI MANUAL. It has done 75000 kms and has had no breakdowns.
Need suggestions on Stage 1 MOD. few gains that I am looking at (please add if I need to look at other things too):
1. Counter low RPM driveability as there is significant turbo lag.
2. I love doing road trips so my top cruising speed has engine doing at 3500 RPM. (5 speed GB). NEED this reduced so that engine feels less strained and aids to increased fuel efficiency.
3. And last, should become fun to drive at times when I feel the itch.
Apart from this, what kind of increase in power and torque can I expect and how much I can expect pay?
I am in Bangalore and need recommendation for reliable tuner.
Do you suggest any other mod? Like better brakes or anything for stage 1?

Stage 1 remap would increase your torque at lower rpms so it will improve driveability but it cannot defeat physics.
The speed that you have at 3500rpm in top gear will be the same because the gear ratios will be the same. Nothing short of a 6 speed swap can fix this.
You can try Pete's/Code6/Harmonixx , this is quite a common engine to be mapped so most have plenty of experience with it. Cost would be around 20-25k and you are looking at 130-135 hp.

Thanks agambhandari. I just spoke to Wolf moto. Do you have any feedback about them. They are present in Bangalore and quoted 28k with around 18-20% gain over 105 bhp. Asking since you have not mentioned WM in your recommendation. Out of all these 4 tuners, which one will you recommend. On a positive note, Joe from WM answered all my questions positively for good 20 minutes. 👍

I have the EXACT same concern and was going through this thread and noticed this query. Sadly no one picked this up. Sorry if I missed, I neither saw any discussions on BS6 diesel remaps.
Wondering how would a remap turn out on Tata's 1.5 Revotorq. Even before getting to DPF, straightup there is a limitation on the gearbox front since it is the stone age TA65 which is rated at 200Nm only.
Any pointers from members would be appreciated.
PS : I havent talked to any tuner about this yet.

Go for Wolf Moto eyes closed, their customer support is stellar. Their maps are well tested and i have been running one for couple of years now.
You will be satisfied with their maps for sure.

28k is decent. Wolf is slightly expensive when compared to the competition.

That sounds good. Now few more things that came to my mind. And thanks so much for helping me and others around here.
1. WM told me that with stage 1+. The gain would be about 20% from 105 bhp. That's comes to about 126 bhp. Is that gain enough? I have read some people gaining upto 135 bhp in stage 1 remap.
2. How can I ensure that it is a good map and not just work around like increasing injector duration? Or just go by reputation of Wolf Moto?
3. Is dyno test really required? What would be the cost if I need to go for it?

20-25 percent is good gains for Stage 1 remap.

Drive the car :).
Wolf Moto tuner Rajiv is the one who educated me how most of the tuners make power by fooling the ECU by changing just injector opening duration :D

Not necessary. If you want to get it done, head to Harmonixx Tuning Bangalore. It would cost around 5-6k.
You can also check out other tuners in Bangalore like TOT, Harmonixx tuning, E tuners etc for remap.
Hey everyone
I'll be getting myself a car this year for college which i plan to build nicely! would turbocharging the old 1.8 Civic be a good option or will it be too unreliable to be a project car? i had that or a gen-1 city in my mind for the turbocharging plans!
apart from that i'd also want some opinions on what other sedans to look for to tune in future considering my student budget!

I read that you had done a remap of your SX4 from Wolf Moto.
Was it a diesel or petrol?
I just aquired a single owner 55k driven 2009 Zxi petrol Sx4 and found its steering to be hard and engine power sluggish.
Can you please share what all you did with your Sx4, why
and how much it all cost you?
