agree to that tanveer,a piece of advice from me to all fellow bhpiians never ever buy a metallic black indica as tanveer said even god wont be able to help you,i love cleaning and polishing my car but i never touch my indica,the color is sticky and is impossible to clean using a normal cloth(wet or dry),nice panel gaps trap the polish when i polish the car,there is always tonnes of sand and dirt trapped between the doors and body as there is no rubber beading on the body to prevent dirt,black indica is a cleaner's nightmare.

hey guys,

I have a silver hyundai getz (hence i fall in the x3mely lucky case).

i wash my car every fortnight and use armor all car wash concentrate(bought it from uae) to wash it. i then use armor all protectant(also from uae) for the tyres and alloys. i wud like to buy some good wax/polish for my car. any good products please.....

and what product of son of a gun should i buy. should i go for the car wash shampoo or wax polish.

Plz reply guys ASAP

I use these towels to wipe my car dry after a wash .......

Note- It has a very poor water absorbing ability

If it doesn't absorb water well, what is it that you wipe off after a wash ?

This is what I had posted a long time back. I have been working on these areas and have achieved some very good results that I would like to share with you all.

Here goes :

1. Take one capful of Harpic Blue and dilute it with 4 capfuls of clean water. Mix well.

2. Wet the area that needs to be decalcified.( Stubborn stain around the logo areas, wind screen washer nozzles, around the key hole plates)

3. Take an old Tooth brush, dip it in the harpic solution and smear it liberally over the effected areas and watch the stains just dissolve leaving the area absolutely clean and fresh as in a newly purchased car.

4. Make sure that use lot of water in that area after about 30 seconds after applying the solution. It is also advisable that you use the tooth brush by scrubbing the area vigorously while at the same time directing your hose over it.

5. Observe the area after drying it. If some traces of the stains are leftover, repeat the whole process again. Initially you may have to do this about 4/5 times but later on you may have to do this just once a month to prevent further damage.

6. Trust me. The result is so satisfying that it gives an entire new meaning to car washing.

So go ahead and start brushing and don't forget that I shall be eagerly waiting for your feedback.

Varun i really dont know whether to try this as Harpic has Acid in it wont be good for the paint will it?

I am also working on it & shall have the results posted when I succeed. Dada, (I hope you don't mind me calling you that) I would love to know your views on this.

Use only hand wash like Palmolive or such. In extreme case, use PRIL. All these are soft soap and PRIL is a grease cutter. Use a soft toothbrush instead of hard one.

Hi, I.ve used Teflon coating on my vehicles and have just the opposite view from you, friend..Maybe the guy who did the coating for you did not do a good job..I think Teflon coating is GOOD and recommend it !!

I am happy that you are satisfied with the Teflon Coating that has been done on your car. I dont say its bad, but i feel that the price paid between 1.5-3k for teflon is not justified. Take your vehicle to paint protection specialists like TPC3, 3M, Autoglym and then i am sure you will understand what i meant

IMHO, Teflon is better than having nothing at all but it just doesn't compare with paint protection treatment meted out by people like TPC3 which IMHO is more durable, effective and long-lasting.

BTW, looking back thorugh the posts in this thread and some other threads in T-BHP, car-care gurus like Rudra Sir, V12 and Speedsatya to name a few also do not recomend Teflon Coating at all. I took up their advice and am really pleased about it

You are right yogi, i got the Valugard treatment done by TPC on my Esteem VXI in Jan-06, the very next day after i got the car. The same treatment is also done on my Baleno LXI in early April 06 as soon as i got the car. They charged me 4.5k for each car. It is backed by 3 years service warranty which is carried out once in 6months on site.

The treatment includes protection to all the rubber, vinyl-strips, cleaning of head/tail lamps and chrome parts of the car along with the painted bodyshell ofcourse which ensures total extrior protection. Close your eyes and go for it. I am very satisfied with their service and the product itself. The gloss of the cars is just the way it was when it was bought out from the showroom and infact its even better. The whole body feels soo smooth to touch even after 5 months after the treatment just like a freshly waxed car. Road Tar, grime does not get stubborn on the paint surface especially on the running board below the doors. I just need to take a moist cloth and wipe it off. Don't need diesel or any sort of tar remover at all to get it off.

I got the TPC3 service done around a week back. Since TPC3 are official distributors of Turtle Wax products as well, i bought my self the top of the line Turtle Wax Platinum Series Wax for 900bucks and i asked them to apply a coat on my car after the service which they did for 300 bucks(machined polish). I just cant stop to admire the gloss and the shine my car gives, its just stunning.

I am fully aware that Harpic contains acid but it also contains soap solution which being an alkaline neutralizes the acid. That is why I was insisting that you use lot of water to wash away any residue of both Acid and Soap.

I have been using it for almost 4 months now and am really amazed at the results. Only after being totally convinced with the results have I posted it on the thread. I am car lover and would hate to ruin anybody's car. TRUST ME. Go ahead and try it out. Have no fear. For Bangalorians if it is worth there trouble I shall be glad to clear these scalely deposit from their car on any Sunday at my place.

wish i was a bachelor boy to do all this muscle work. theres just time for the gym and i wonder how u guys get time off to do this polishing / cleaning. The normal wash which i do once a month if time permits takes 1 to 1.5 hrs and needs 3 buckets of water.

The guy who washes my car otherwise when needed can do it in 1 bucket.

btw i dont know much but washer guys in the Gulf use Chamois cloth which is leather or suede based and it absorbs more grime.
let me know if this is good. costs about 600 bucks for a few sq ft(maybe 2 or 3)

Once in a month. Is diesel advisable for removing dirt which doesnot come out otherwise
