Jaguar XF V8 - Engine issue

Hello, I need advise that the crank is not rotating even after switching on the ignition- Tried rotating the crank pulley manually also, it is not rotating.

Is it that the engine has seized or some electronic malfunction is there.

Please advise. Thank you.

Have you checked your battery? What happens when you try to start? Do you hear the starter relays coming in?
How are you trying to rotate the engine? Its not that easy at the best of times,

Jeroen

re: Jaguar XF V8 - Engine issue

If you don't at all hear the clack-clack of the starter relay when you turn the key, some interlock is preventing the starting cycle from going through.

And no, one can't turn the engine by trying to rotate the crank pulley by hand - the force required is too much.

Thank you. The car was under a local mechanic and I assume he has done some thing.
The battery is good and when the ignition is turned on the vents are coming out.
Changed the battery. Hence battery issue is ruled out.
There is no clack clack sound of the starter relay.
Once again I thank you.
Is there a possibility the starter motor may have been tampered.

If you are sure the battery is fine and don't hear the clacking sound that is a good place to start. Could be as simple as a relais, or maybe even a fuse. Check out the owner manual which ones. I believe your car is equipped with automatic engine start/stop? Something might have gone wonky. I would always hook it up to a Jaguar specific OBD analyzer. Jaguars throw out codes for just about anything, but you a genetic code reader wont be able to capture the Jaguar specific codes.

If anything, try and disconnect the battery and reconnect after two minutes and see what happens.
