Guys,

What modifications are possible for a 2011 Polo with VCDS. I had checked with a BHPian a few years back but dont think could pick up any tips he gave.

Also, any Team-BHPian in Mumbai who has a VCDS and can let me borrow one?

I got the details of the adaptations that need to be done, but unfortunately, it is throwing out of range error. I was searching for a resolution and understood that the workshop codes are required to code it.

I've been trying to find them, but no luck so far. Did anyone know the workshop codes for the 8 inch infotainment? If yes, could you please DM them to me? TIA

Please share more details on the adaptation that you're trying to change. Would a screenshot be possible?

I do not have a screenshot, but here are the parameters that I'm trying to modify:

Air-conditioning(08) > Long coding > Display via BAP > Activated. (Successful)
Air-conditioning(08) > Long coding > Operation via BAP > Activated. (Successful)
Multimedia(5F) > Adaptation > Vehicle function list BAP > climatic_master_0x01 > activated. (Not Working)
Multimedia(5F) > Adaptation > Vehicle function list BAP > climatic_master_0x01_msg_bus > Comfort data bus. (Not Working)
Multimedia(5F) > Adaptation > Vehicle menu operation > menu_display_clima_configuration > Activated. (Not Working)
Multimedia(5F) > Adaptation > Vehicle menu operation > menu_display_clima_configuration_over_threshold_hi gh > Activated. (Not Working)

So basically, for the mods under Multimedia, I need the workshop codes. Security Access was not an issue and it accepted the code from Ross-Tech forums.

To celebrate this, I changed the throttle response mode using an adaptation available in the steering module.

Now this is a game changer. Rev matching on my Slavia 1.5 MT is cumbersome. One would have to blip the throttle a tad bit longer to get the revs up. At this point it looks like your are holding the throttle rather than a blip. With this mod, the blips would work as intended. I'm wondering why this wasn't the default setting from factory? :Frustrati

Can you email me the steps on how this was done?

Also, have you figured out the adaptations cornering lights on slavia? That would be great as well.

I dont think the workshop codes are a blocker if you get a warning saying the module is not initialised. If you get an out of range error then those channels are wrongly read by VCDS. There are four menu display categories IIRC for my 10 inch ICE and they are Clima Master, Clima Slave, Climatic master and Climatic slave.

Check if no other adaptations are being taken in by the head unit. If thats the case you will need a different VCDS version or firmware.

Yes exactly, the throttle can be blipped now compared to before where it would raise gradually. And yes, this has somehow increased my FE and made the throttle very linear, so no longer should I press the throttle a bit more at start and reduce it. The adaptation is simple. Go to Steering Assist and the channel 'Driving profile switchover' and change it to Direct, over threshold from the factory option of 'Incremental over time'. There is a lot of debate as to why this adaptation came in steering assist and whether it works, but globally this mod has been done by many and appreciated.

Speaking of cornering lights I never realised that they were not provided by default in the Slavia. I believe some adaptation in the BCM is needed for the same and shouldnt be a big deal.

Got the Loader to work, license prompts have gone away now.

Hi, Just wanted to know if your cable from Motoscan is working fine ? Did you have to order a different cable for the loader to work or was it the first one with which the loader worked? I was going through your posts and noticed that the loader didn't work at first.

Also, wanted to know if the cable from Motoscan is good to go or should I buy an original from the Ross Tech Website? Please share your experience.

For reference, I have a 2022 VW Vento 1.0 TSI AT .

I ordered mine from Motoscan. If it works, good for you. If it doesn't, then it's on you.

However, in my case, it was a dreadful experience. The cost of the cable is 10K without GST. Inclusive of GST it would cost you like 14k. My cable didn't work :Frustrati

After some troubleshooting through anydesk they blamed it on the the operating system. They took weeks to end up with this resolution.

After some heated arguments back and forth, I lost hope in a refund.

I understood the shady practices followed by them. The employees of Motoscan would post positive reviews about themselves across all retail sites.

It took me a month running behind them for a refund. Everyday I would follow up and they gave me lame excuses. These cables are being imported from China and sold at absurd prices. These are worth 4k at best.

My humble advice to anyone looking for a cloned VCDS HEX V2 cable, anything above 5k is not worth the risk, and particularly stay away from Motoscan.

I went with OBDeleven after this fiasco. I would recommend getting the vcds imported if possible and avoid these hastle.

Glad you saved me from the hassle buddy !

Is it safe to buy VCDS cables from AliExpress ? I'm planning on getting one with version V23.3.1. Do they really work ? or should I take a bet ?

Don't buy from Aliexpress, there are numerous versions of VCDS cables which don't do anything.

A VCDS (cloned cable) are not sold on Aliexpress.

see its like this. I bought a genuine cable directly from USP Motorsports. They're authorized by Ross Tech. With customs and everything turned out to be around 19K. Plus, you can request them to declare a lower value in the customs invoice so you'll save some money on the import duty. This was the hobby level cable which is VIN locked for max 3 cars. the VIN will get utilized as soon as you try to do anything other than a general fault scan (which can also be done with much cheaper chinese devices).

Then you can purchase another 10 VIN limit for about 15K.

In all my ethics and state of mind, I can obviously not recommend you to buy a duplicate one, but talking purely from cost point of view, if you're able to get aliexpress cables for about 3K (which was the avg price atleast till a year ago) then you can afford to hit and miss even 3 times and still save money over the genuine one, with one upside being the duplicate one will not have a VIN Limit.

Having said that, we all spend a lot of money on a lot of things in our cars. I say, support ROSS-Tech by buying a genuine cable. Their after sales support is very good. And if you take good care, the cables gonna be good for atleast the next 15 years and get all the program upgrades as and when new cars from the VW stable come into the market. If all you wanna do is just change a few settings for once like changing blinker settings etc etc. for once its a different story. if you plan to also use for troubleshooting and diagnostics, keep in mind this is just a tool. You should also know how to use and what to look for to identify a problem. The tool will give you all sorts of data, but it'll be upon you to be able to interpret the data and identify a possible issue. In this regard, the support forum of ROSS Tech is amazing, and that you'll get only with a genuine registered purchase.

You post the smallest issue there is on their forum, and almost each and every time you'll get a reply not from just other forum members, but Uwe Ross himself, founder of the company. And after looking at your data, if he identifies a particular cause of the issue, 99 percent it probably is that.

Plus there is a cheaper option of OBDEleven. It is missing only few things and catching up real fast.
You can get for as low as 6-7k (Customs included) and then maybe get a pro plan for 5k. It all depends on your usage.

Are there any discussions about providing support to MQB India specific cars for their controllers? Right now most of the label files and ROD files are not specific to the controllers and either experimental coding or similar controller data is used. This leads to some coding bytes wrongly represented or adaptations not available. And perhaps there could be additional adaptations that are currently not displayed.

Recently i haven't logged on to their forum for quite some time. I'll ask them tomorrow. Discussions regarding Indian cars specifically are very less due to number of Indian members with genuine cables being very rare
Regarding updates, With RossTech it's more of a mutual co operation with them. so if we want them to update the data with regards to our MQB vehicles, they'll need someone from India to send a Level 2 (selectable from their settings) hardware scan which covers all modules and sub modules in detail. these files can be mailed to them. they then work to use that data to include as much info as possible in the next update. however, nothing's guaranteed. They do mention that they try their best. I sent the entire data of my 2018 vento 1.5 TDI. they even acknowledge with thanks the receipt of the data. but it's not necessary, that they will provide something in return or necessarily be able to create data regarding those in their next update.
