Has anyone tried this cable. Shall I proceed to buy?

So essentially the extra $30 is for the software update support? But is it genuine RossTech? Doesn't seem so as you have to update / activate the software thru them.

For how much can we procure a "proper working" vagcom cable? By proper I mean with a reliable software and the cable.
Also, I'm from Hyderabad and I need this for a one-time use only. Can anybody from Hyderabad lend me one?

There is only one option if you need a "reliable" cable - the original RossTech cable which sells for $200 for 3 VIN numbers. Any other cable is a duplicate and just a matter of luck if it works with all the controllers in your car.

Having said that, if you are just planning for a one time use, then the original cable does not make sense. You could just order one from AliExpress. The AliExpress cables mostly work for the common tweaks done on the BCM. Only if you are looking for some advanced settings like brake assist, XDS etc., they have chances of not working.

Thanks for your input. I found this place called GT Tunerz in Hyderabad who have the VCDS cable and would offer services based on the same. They charge 500 for one use. I'd now like to know what all features can be activated on a 2011 MK6 Jetta Highline. Any suggestions are welcome :)

Update: I have purchased and received a VAG COM VCDS 18.9 cable on AliExpress. Installed the provided software on a Windows 10 installation (on MacBook via Bootcamp). The cable seems to be active and all the buttons on the software are enabled. Have not tried connecting it to the car yet, but all seems good. Will update further when I have a chance to hook it up and play with it. Photos attached.

Car ac not throwing air from middle both vents out of sudden, both corner vents working with cold air flow, just checked for error code with vcds cable, anybody can guide what's wrong & whether it can be corrected itself or not?

This could be an issue with the alternator not charging properly. Please get your battery and alternator checked. How did you find the issue? during a cold start or while driving?

Is it manual or auto AC?

If the air flow is set for 'legs' then the middle air vents stop throwing air but side vents keep throwing the air in the VWs, check the air flow settings first.

The fault indicates positioning motor for central flap could be having a problem. Could be some simple mechanical issue like stuck flap, or electrical issue like the motor gone faulty. I think it would be possible to check only after opening the system.

Also, all the faults have time stamp with year 2016. Could be the clock in the car has a wrong date. What is the present Odo reading in your car?

Can we deactivate rain sensing activity used for the wipe? It works weirdly and I feel manually operating it would be good for me.

It is possible to de-activate it in the head unit under car settings. At least possible with my MY14 Octavia with the MIB I unit.

In my case, they weren't able to resolve the "Interface not found issue". The cable doesn't work. They stopped answering my whatsapp and email thereupon. We buy it with our hard earned money and get duped with such people. Avoid these Chinese scamsters and buy the original.
