I have bought two VCDS cables from AliExpress - version 12.12 and 15.7 and both have worked. Having said that, there is no guarantee if the VCDS cables from AliExpress will work.

Also, there are chances that some controllers are still not recognized on newer cars. For example, the 15.7 cable I have does not recognize the ABS/Brake controller in my car (September 2015 manufactured), whereas I have been able to access other controllers like BCM, Instruments etc. Many controllers that were not recognized by version 12.12 in my Jetta are recognized by 15.7.

So, do not expect 100% compatibility between the cable and your car. For that you will have to get the original Ross-Tech cable which comes with technical support.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Hi Experts,

I just took possession of a used Skoda Superb 2011 model. I would like to upgrade the stock head lamp. I was planning to use a more powerful high beam which might require an additional wiring. As i understand, these changes will show an error every time i start the vehicle, is there a way to disable this function using VCDS cable?
Thx,
Ajith

Re: BT-Audio activation

Hi,
This may be a bit off topic but I dont know where to post it.
I hope someone can help. I have a Skoda Laura Ambient Dec 2010 model and want to know if the BT-Audio can be activated ??
I had asked the ASS to do this but they said that this feature is not available for this model. I have tried to find a similar post in the forum but have not been successful.
Regards,
Seacat

I don't think you can activate that by VAG COM. You will need to add a supported bluetooth module to get that feature up and running.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Hi Folks,

I ordered the HEX+CAN cable (15.7) from Ali. It is not the Original one.
After I connect it to my car (New Vento TSI - Feb-2016 model), it is unable to recognize it. Here is what happens:

1. Start the VCDS software on my Laptop.
2. Plug in the cable to the car and laptop
3. I get a red light on the cable (car side connector) for half a second and then it turns Green.
4. Turn on the Ignition (without starting the car)
5. Use the "Test" function on the software and I get below message:
Interface : Found
Status : Cable not plugged into the car.

Can someone please help me with this ? Is there anything wrong in the way I am following the steps ?

TIA.

Have you installed the software properly, Step by step as instructed in the manual you must have got with the disc? Installing the software for the 15.7 version is a bit tricky.

Yes, Reinstall it step by step, You'll get that error if you haven't installed the software properly, All the best.

Quick Question:
At what point or how do we get to know whether the software is not installed properly or the Cable is faulty ?

If you get any such error's like, Cable not plugged into the car, Means you haven't installed the software properly, Once the software is installed go to options and select test and it should show, OK.

And then try browsing and opening the control modules to check if you can access them.

You can order probably anything you need, Aliexpress has a wide range of products for automobiles, You can look for parking sensors or chrome fitments etc, Depending on what car you have.
