Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Hi Guys! I have a few queries regarding XDS enabling through VCDS.

1. Does it really work in normal day to day driving?
if Yes, should it be set to 1 (mild) or 2 (Strong)

2. What are the negatives of activating XDS (Fast worn brake pads?)

3. There are other options like Torque steer compensation and Brake assist?
Should these be activated, If yes, What are the negatives.

I am looking to activate these on my Passat B7 but don't want to mess up anything. So please advice.

Note: I am assuming you are trying to do this with the Jetta. If it is the Passat, then it may work.

Also for the error about hexadecimal, can you show a screen shot of the screen where you are entering 95 or 99? In programmer's language, different software use different conventions in deciding the type of number. Some software require a "0x" prefix before a number to indicate this is hex, and some other software do not require this prefix if the field is exclusively hex.

I am sorry if this is confusing. Instead of 95 type 0x95 in the field and see if the cable accepts this.
Yes i know that guy had enabled it on the passat and I am trying it on my jetta, Was just trying my luck and was surprised to see i could reach all the way to the end only till i got that error, Ill definitely try "0x" and see what happens, Since passat and jetta share several things, I thought of giving this a shot as well, Probably next week with a original cable, And will also put the screenshot of the error that i was getting asap.

You won't really notice it in normal driving conditions, But i have set it to Strong anyways.

I have been using the setting from almost the time i have bought the car, And even after 22k Kms on the ODO, The service centre checked and confirmed me the brake pads are doing great, Mind you i drive hard on every chance i get.

Activate both, Specially TSC, You can feel the difference while your gunning the car from a standstill, The steering just stays in a straight line.

Just take a autoscan of the car, Save it and then activate each option one by one and you should be good to go. Don't worry! All the best!

Hey guys,
I got hold of a 12.12 version vcds cable, was able to activate the needle staging. Wanted to tweak with the park assist - volume - I keep getting a error " no response from controller"? Any leads?

You won't be able to change that setting since the OPS module (park assist module) installed in the facelift models of the Polo and Vento is not recognised by VCDS. Its an inferior module and there's no connection to BCM.

thanks Gannu, another thing I'm confused with, I activated the rear comfort wipe on my friends GT ( bought Feb 2015) and it worked! Doesn't work on mine ( Oct 2015). This was done using a 12.12. Apart from that I was able to activate most of the other things for both cars, and also the park volume didnt work in the other car as well ( tried it as I thought his might be an older version since the rear comfort wipe worked in his car).
So, I also tried changing the value to 1 from 0 for the comfort wipe and tested - which came back with a value 0. Siigghhh.

P.s : the tear wipe works fine.

How did you enable rear comfort wiping? There are 2 ways to do this:

1. Through BCM long coding, Byte 14:

Name: B14.png
Views: 3717
Size: 55.1 KB

2. The other one is through Adaptation:

Try this.

I tried both the methods, did a roll back of the 16 dig long code and tried again as well. This is what I get.

And it unchecked again when I went in again

I tried this also via adaptation with no avail, Could it be because it's the 12.12.0?

Not sure about that; I'll have to check.

But wait your BCM is 086 M? Man, WTH is wrong with VW! I thought they were using the highline 087 R BCMs for the GTs now. Even a friend's Polo Highline diesel has a highline BCM and he had cruise control installed recently. This is atrocity!

edited: ok false alarm that was another screen shot of my friends GT i was talking about bought early this year. could the new ones with the cruise control come only with only the 086M. my vin says its manufactured in october :/

Nope. The facelift Highline and GT models without the cruise control/electrically folding mirrors did come with the 087 R BCM.

VW's bin system is pretty strange. You can physically verify the BCM installed in your car. I've mentioned it here.

Why would they do this? Anyway, on the bright side, this would be good news to the prefacelift owners who were upset about missing the cc and retractable mirrors and thought they got a raw deal! There's always a catch, isn't there?.. Haha. Thanks Gannu. I hope there won't be too many downsides to having this version of the BCM.

Re: VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread

Hi Ganesh,

I was wondering if upgrading CC to Adaptive CC is complicated? ACC would be very convenient in our traffic.

Sorry to hear about the damages to the car. Polo's bumpers and the retainers are very strong. I had a similar incident where a two wheeler skid and the single rod leg guard pierced in to the rear bumper. Bumper just had a cut - that is it. Link: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...ml#post2008038

VW paint is very hard - Surprised to see those deep scratches. People would have tried real hard to get this result.

I haven't come across a Jetta retrofitted with ACC Chethan.

Some Russians have installed it on their Passats, Touaregs etc. It is also expensive (new ABS unit, radar unit etc) close to some 1000+ Euros.

Here's one link - https://www.drive2.ru/l/4750338/

UPDATE: Anyway I was able to activate the following features on the(oct 2015 mfd POLO GT TDi) with 086M BCM :

1. Tear wipe
2. Comfort turn signals from 3-5
3. Indicator celebration
4. Audible feedback on lock
5. Instantaneous fuel consumption
6. Fuel to replenish
7. Speed dependent wipers

Tweaks that can be done but chose not to :
1. changing the time to 24hrs
2. audible feedback for unlock (2 beeps )
3. changing the metric system for km and l to miles and oz.
4. single door unlock

Things that i wasn't able to tweak with because of the 086M BCM -with 12.12.0 vcds

1. Rear comfort wiping
2. Park sensor sounds ( which is not available due to an inferior module and 4k non optical regardless of the BCM version)

Hope this helps those who've got the facelift polo with autofold OVRMS and CC

Hey Gannu , with the risk of sounding stupid, i read that only if the BCM is above 087, can the CC be functional , now in my case, the CC came stock but with the 086 M BCM. Does it apply only in the case of a retrofit ?

That's an interesting one. This looks like a new BCM probably manufactured here in India by Continental which has support for cruise control. Even the 087 part doesn't guarantee cruise control since the 087 F unit doesn't have support.

Could you click a snap of the BCM unit and share it in this thread? I've mentioned the location in the DIY thread.

PS: Please edit your previous post to add more details if the 30 minute EDIT window isn't over yet. Been merging several back-to-back posts of yours. Thanks!
