I got the Ross Tech cable. I'm not sure about clones. Guess they can't be updated.

Clone cable's cannot be updated. Also the original ross tech cable will provide much more tweaks as it will identify all the control modules and will allow you to tweak as you desire, But are expensive, I am using the 12.2.3 Version which costed me hardly 2500 bucks!

Hello experts,
I need to know if it is possible to set the MID's average speed to be calculated based on 'journey time' instead of 'driving time'. To be more specific, if I take a 30 minute break for lunch during 10-11 hour journey, I need the average speed to be calculated including that 30 minute time. This will help us a lot in planning long drives. The default setting will not consider any breaks and will only calculate based on the duration for which the ignition was on.

If the above is not possible using VCDS, I could also live with an app and an OBD scanner that can provide me with the same data. Any pointers there?

Thanks.

I recently got the Ross tech vag cable and tried a auto scan. The message showed as:

VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostic System) for VW & Skoda - Discussion Thread-imageuploadedbyteambhp1438948167.751474.jpg

What does this mean?

When I checked the oil quality, it showed

@ nidhinsarath, It seem's like a software issue, Have you tried reinstalling the software? (I am not very sure though) And the oil quality for my jetta also shows, poor quality, Even when the car was brandnew.

The CD I received along with the cable has the following softwares.

I installed the last one. I tried reinstalling it but it was of no use. I tried accessing the parking assist to increase the reverse buzzer tone but the software is not responding. I had already installed auto headlamp knob sometime back. In that coming and leaving home lights was parking lights. I want to change it to either headlights or fog lamps. Any codes for activating the same? I tried changing the binary but after changing it I'm not able to save it

Are you using the original ross tech cable or a clone? Try the 12.2.3 version. Which car are you using the cable on? I can change the coming and leaving home lights to either DRL + Fog lights or Low beam only in my jetta. So yes there are codes available to do that. But first i think you need to check which software is working properly for you, And also first just scan the car and save the log before making any changes.

The OPS module (PARKHILFE 4K) is missing in the facelift Polo and Vento which is why you cannot access it via VCDS and change the settings.

FWIK, VCDS cannot access the auto headlamp module since the BCM cannot recognise this aftermarket unit. It is an independent unit which controls the CH, LH, auto lights by itself. You can do some amount of programming nonetheless.

Here is a document you can use to do some changes - Auto Headlight Module.pdf

See if it helps.

Thanks Gannu for the prompt reply. The auto HL module pdf was really helpful. But as mentioned before while doing an auto scan, its showing 'ROD file not found'. What does this mean? If possible can you please let me know about all tweaks that can be done in stock Polo?

please:Need Help,Just bought a aliexpress cable 12.12. Tried installing it. The software I installed was 12.12.3. When I click on test it says port ok, interface not found. I tried with ignition on. The cable led light turns green when connected to car. I tried switching the usb port. Even Changing the driver. All the doors were also open. But couldn't got it to work.
Please reply.

I had the same issue.
I went down to the car, made my phone a wifi router, and downloaded the LATEST Ross-Tech VCDS software from the official site. Installed it, started it up, it even asked to upgrade the firmware of the HEX interface of the cable.
But SAME error again. Almost gave up, but suddenly decided to uninstall 15.xx from my computer, leaving 12.12.3 on the computer. Last try, and VOILA! It worked!
It seems 15.xx installed something on the computer, and left it behind in the windows registry, that allowed the cable to work.
Give it a try and tell me what you think.. I was awake till 5 in the morning trying all this.

Installed version 12.12 of vcds and it works. It seems that the aliexpress cables work with cracked software only. But I was able to perform all mods on my red hot polo

the original vag programer has made a protection if you update the clone cable will erase the clone cable firmware which situated in the atmel chip inside
narry

I coded my yeti for the emergency brake flashing on turn signals (9 - Cent. Elec > Long Coding > byte 16), but I am not sure how to test it. I did brake hard to sudden stop to test on many occassions during night time, but I can't say it worked. Is there a certain way to replicate it?

I am unable to make the followings work on my Yeti Elegance.
1. Tear Wiping FRONT
>>09 - Central Electronics > Coding – 07 > Long Coding Helper > Byte 14 > Check Bit 4 ‘Tear Wiping Active’.

The Tear wiping for REAR works though.

2. Activating horn beeps while locking/unlocking the car
>> 09 - Central Electronics > Coding -07 > Long Coding Helper > Byte 5 > Check Bit 1 and Bit 4

3. Oil Temperature info in MFD

I did manage to get rest of the features working:
1. TPMS
2. Changing lane indicators from 3 flashes to 5
3. XDS (fast corner assist) Strong
4. Coming home (via fog light)
5. Brake Assist to High
6. Staging (needle sweep)
7. Tear Drop Wiping for Rear Wiper Active

I got hold of a PDF booklet with all possible VCDS adjustments one can make. But too afraid to try out untested codes.

Guys, I am sure none of us have tested the emergency brake flashing in reality. It requires an additional cable from the brake switch located behind the brake pedal to be routed to the BCM. AFAIK, only in the cars sold abroad, this cable is present by default. Simply ticking the option in VCDS doesn't work.
