Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

I Replaced Exide OEM(40Ah) battery for my Grand i10 Petrol(2016) model at the Exide battery shop, Arekere, Bangalore. The OEM battery still running good (5 years and 8 months)
In the 3rd ASS paid service, the Service adviser recommended changing the OEM battery and he mentioned, it is weak. But the car is running fine I am facing a MID TRIP reset issue right now.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offic...ml#post5213003 (Hyundai Grand i10 : Official Review)

I do not want to take a risk. It will give up anytime.
So, I Replaced Exide Battery (40LBH) with 55 months warranty. The battery type is FML5-ML40LBH.
It is not mentioned capacity anywhere (40ah) in the new battery.
I am looking for BHPians command where to find out the battery capacity.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

The 40 in the model number indicates the battery capacity

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

Will an Amaron 35 AH battery do for a 2019 petrol Swift MT?

What is the difference between 32 and 35 AH?

May not be. Per last check, the Amaron 105D31L showed a rating of 85Ah

Smaller capacity battery will supply power for a lesser time on full charge. 32 Ah will probably work fine in place of 35 Ah if your car is stock and not fitted with additional electronics with high power requirements. But it will drain out faster than 35 Ah battery if you use electronics such as stereo, power windows, lights, blower, etc. without the engine running.

I'd recommend going with stock 35 Ah as it is a very common and easily available spec for small cars. With a smaller capacity battery, you'll have to be extra cautious about battery consumption with the engine OFF which is just not worth it.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

It had to happen some day and my car's battery (45 AH Amaron) finally gave up the ghost i.e. didn't start the car after a low-usage period of nearly 3 months. My bad of course not the battery's fault at all. It served me well and TBH exceeded my expectations.

I didn't want to try recharging it as I am leaving on a road trip tomorrow. Plus it is a little over 4.5 years old & therefore IMO merited a replacement. The same model has been ordered via battery bhai dot com. Price has increased by about Rs 600 compared to mid 2017.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

Anyone know how the pro rata warranty is calculated on amaron batteries? I paid 3500 for a battery 40 months ago which has a 24 + 24 type warranty. How much discount will i get as today the battery could start the car only after like 10 tries which never happened before?

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

Never had a comfortable relationship with Exide.
Amaron always, forever.
Real good quality, warranty and has never left me in a lurch. I always make it a point to only go to a store that stocks Amaron.

24+24 means full replacement in the first 24 months under warranty and pro-rata after that for next 24 months which comes to ~rs146/month. Since you have used up 16 months already, u are eligible for a discount of ~rs1160-1170 (146*8). Hope that helps...

You can derive this easily. The formula per the warranty card is 1 * (service life/warranty period) where service life is the number of months between date of sale and date of complaint rounded off to the next month, warranty period is as specified in the card according to the model.

The new Amaron Pro that I had fitted in my car today now has a 66 month warranty instead of 60 i.e. 36 months replacement (instead of 30 earlier) and 30 months pro rata.

The pro-rata warranty is sham IMO which I had explained in another post on TBHP several years ago. Remember, pro rata is calculated on sticker price. That's why I didn't bother to claim warranty on my 4.5 year old battery though technically it was still under pro rata warranty.

Your battery came with a 48 month warranty, of which failure in first 24 months is covered in full and after that pro-rated discount is given on replacement. 3500/48 comes to Rs. 73 per month. Since the battery has served 40 months of its quoted 48 month life, you are eligible for discount of Rs. 580 (73x8).

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

Needed help with battery replacement for my i20 Petrol (Asta, 2011 model). Couple of times in last few months, when starting the car it would not start up in one go and I would have to crank the key twice to get it started. Thought that since service was due this is happening and service would fix it (somehow did not strike me as a battery issue). Day before, had gone out in the evening for groceries and the car refused to start while in the market. Took help from a good fellow for push start (I pushed and he engaged the gears to get it started).

Yesterday got the battery checked and they said it should be replaced. My current battery is an Exide (2nd one in the car) with model number FMIO-MI45D21LBH which is Feb 2016, got it installed in first half of 2016 so got almost 5 years from it, which is very good (am told anything above 4 years is good). Planning to go for Exide only this time around as well but when I checked prices offline, got a lot of differing prices and online has a different schedule of prices.

Shop 1 quoted INR 5000 with exchange and 24+24 warranty
Shop 2 quoted INR 4500 with exchange and 24+24 warranty but had to wait for a day
Online it shows as INR 5590 (batterywale), INR 5200 (batteryboss) an INR 5699 (batterybhai). Online folks are giving 30+25 months of warranty.

Online model is slightly different (FML0-ML45D21LBH vs FMIO-MI45D21LBH), does that nomenclature change imply something?

Am thinking to go with the batteryboss (5200) due to higher warranty. Is there a recent change in battery warranty terms and hence online is offering 30+25 whereas offline dealers are still offering 24+24 (old stock)?
Also, if I order online (never ordered a battery online before), the actual battery date would be known only when they come over, so how old a battery is acceptable (2 months max or more)? In the shop we can check the date and go for the least old one but online how do we ensure that?

Thanks,
S

Do you folks top up distilled water in your amaron batteries? If so, how often do you do it?

Check and top up if required once in 12 months. Amarons expend very little water. Do not overfill as the electrolytre will leak out and corrode the supporting structure i.e. tray etc and terminals.

Never in last 20+ years, I have filled any water for any of my car batteries. Am I missing something basic here?
