I believe a larger AH rating means bigger physical size. And higher charging current. This means tweaking charging circuit too. Else, it will take longer for a full recharge. My opinion, not the bible.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

Changed the battery for my A-star yesterday. The battery was OEM and was of AMARON make. It still cranked fine but SA suggested to change it as it was 8+ years old. Was also noticing dimming of tail lights and headlights(if on) while starting along with a longer crank time, so changed as a precaution.

Went for AMARON again, AMARON flo to be precise. Used the online mode batterywale.com to buy the new one. Costed me 3500 with exchange of old one. Delivery and installation was quick and convenient. The batterywala from batterywale.com was shocked as well that my factory fitted AMARON was still going strong after 8+years.

Checked the Amaron website and discovered that the authorised dealers are charging more for the same battery than batterywale.com. But I wasn't sure who was responsible for the removal of the old battery and the installation of the new battery.

Just want to confirm that installation of the battery is done by the batterywale.com agent?

In all likelihood, closest Amaron dealer will take care of battery replacement and it could be same dealer who quoted higher price to you earlier.

Wouldn't that be fun.

Guess it will be the same dealer, given that the batterywala.com claims that the battery can be delivered within hours.

Anyway, I will make it a point to check and update the thread.

The search for the longest lasting, toughest India battery

Greetings fellow TBHPians,

Before I start, I'd like to request that you refrain from posting product reviews or hearsay about battery brands. If you'd like to post on this thread, kindly post your own direct experiences over many years, with tangible facts like dates/ service life etc.

I own a fleet of classic vehicles and have always prioritized long life over price. I do this because my cars are driven only 1-2 times a week, which means that they don't receive the daily charging that lesser batteries need to perform.

I have tried Bosch/ Varta, Exide and Amaron Pro and have to say that I have become an Amazon Pro user for life. (despite the ugly bright green color in my engine bay)

I say this after my W124 Mercedes developed a hard to diagnose electrical fault in a circuit board that drained the battery fully multiple times, sometimes without any warning. This meant that the 18 month old Amaron battery sat fully drained for days, which is bad for any manufacturer's battery. Much to my surprise, when the fault was fixed with a new dealer supplied part and the car was charged back up, the Pro worked like new. Same cranking power, same intervals between starts. It was almost as if it had never been through the hell of multiple full discharges.

1 year later, as I write this review, we find car starts to be ultra dependable. From now on, we won't touch another battery.

If you have similar examples of durability or toughness demonstrated, please do share.

Re: The search for the longest lasting, toughest India battery

Why don't you just wire the battery to a battery tender? That is the cheapest option if you have access to a wall socket.

Longer lasting batteries are lithium batteries, which will not die over a winter. All other batteries will die after a few weeks.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

Hi all
Looking to replace the battery of my Honda City 2013 model. The battery is working fine as of now, but was thinking of changing it as a precautionary since my car is an automatic and I don't want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere. I do have Drls, rear bumper lights and an amplifier as well. Can u suggest a good replacement battery?

Go in for an Amaron Pro. It is the best as of today. Has all the advantages of Exide's Matrix battery including a 5 year warranty + removable caps to top of water whenever required.

Yes, most of them are maintenance free type. But some of the manufactures even in 2019 still fits the other types in scooters/commercial vehicles etc. to cut costs!

Pro has a warranty of longer duration than Flo. Batterybhai is more popular

No, most cars take flooded batteries excluding luxury marques.

Batteries are low maintenance, not zero maintenance except for Exide Matrix, another flooded battery, which comes with sealed vent caps. I find sealed batteries a disadvantage in tropical climates.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

So basically warranty period is the only difference between Flo and Pro? Is there no difference in performance or longevity?

The basic formula is the same. What you're paying more for is the extra warranty coverage.
