Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

The OEM Exide in my Estilo conked off due to one non-functioning cell. 3.7 years of life from that one.
Called up Amaron Care around 5 yesterday and got the number for a Pune dealer. Inquired on different options and decided on Amaron Flo. They got it to my place and installed it by 7 PM. Pretty good service. Cost is Rs 3600 post discount and battery buy back.

The Amaron guys also test out the vehicle alternator to confirm that it works fine and battery is getting the required charging voltage.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

For me it has been Exide all the way in all my cars, present and former. I always bought them from the authorized Exide shop which stock ONLY Exide batteries.

Yes, they are costly, but totally worth the price.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

After 49 months & 61000km+, my OE Exide Freedom decide to pack up yesterday. I hadn't used the car for a week and it refused to crank. I called up a few dealers and decided to go for Amaron FLO - 35Ah. Total price came up to 3200 including the cashback for the old battery.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

I want to replace battery for Wagon R (December 2007 model) and wanted to know which make/model would suit. I had installed a pair of Hella 700FF (100w H3) which I use only on very dark stretch of road. Is there an option of battery upgrade like tyre.

Thanks

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

My Dzire (VDi) has had some starting problems for the past 4~5 months (Long Cranking, and some times need to push). The OEM battery came with the car was Exide and it lasted for 34 months (till today). Last week it was completely dead. Now decided to go with Amaron and I got the following quotes in Chennai.
1. Amaron Flo 74DIN - 8400 (after buyback of old battery) - 60 (30+30) months Warranty
2. Amaron Go 65DIN - 5600 (after buyback of old battery) - 36 (18+18) months Warranty

I decided to go with Amaron Flo 74DIN.

Please advice me if these rates are OK.

Thanks,

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

I would definitely suggest Amaron batteries. Two of my bikes and my car is running on Amaron and never regretted it once because it never failed me.
One time I didn't ride my bike for a long time and one day I took it for a ride and to my surprise, I found that the battery was almost depleted.
I switched my indicator on and all power is drained. What I did was I just took a ride through the city for an hour and Battery got back to normal. That was an year ago and the battery still works great, provided its now 5 years old.
So for me, Amaron all the way. I think Amaron costs a bit more than others but the extra money you would pay is totally worth it.

Re: Which is the Best Car Battery Brand?

I will vote for Amaron. All my earlier cars came with Exide as OEM and conked off within 1.5 years. Replacement Amarons lasted 4-5 years. Given an option, I would never buy Exide.
And Service is also good. I had a slight problem and their service person came withing a few hours, and that too for a non critical problem.

Car battery thread

I was just searching Team-BHP for battery threads. I did not get much information through the search engine. So I thought to start a new thread with my initial research which would help the Team-BHP community.

It is time for me to replace OEM Exide car battery and I am searching for the best battery for my Indica Vista TDi. Current battery does crank the engine even after 4 days halt but it loses power. When I accelerate the engine, the blowers increase their fan speed and the head lights brighten up more. Also, I found the specific gravity of the cells is low (SPG approx less than 1.2 in some cells). Service Advisor at Tata Motors advised me to replace the battery before any sudden stop for safety purposes. He is right at his side and I took this seriously to hunt for the best battery.

My vectors are
- The battery should have high cranking power.
- Power up my Audio Head Unit & Audio amplifier when car is off for ample amount of time.
- Durability.
- Good service.
- Less maintenance.
- Should not lose power if the car is kept idle for at least 1 week.
- High AH ratings.

I narrowed down to Amaron GO 95D26R having Free 18 Months + Pro Rata 18 Months warranty. But I read some cons about Amaron batteries on Team-BHP.

Until now, I have used loyal brand EXIDE only. I have not faced any issues so far. Also, there are other options from Amaron like Black, Flo and Pro series as shown in the table. But Flo and Pro have 5 AH ratings lesser than others. There are also Tata Green GS Yuasa batteries 65D26 series.

Not to forget the polarity assembly of the battery as there are two types here, R-type and L-type. One should be careful while buying a battery with the L/R type to avoid wiring mess. Most of the dealers try to sell the batteries irrespective of the type, it is up to the buyer to chose the right one. When you view at the battery face, that is 'Front View' and both the battery lugs are facing towards you, if the negative terminal is towards your right hand side, this is R-type battery. Indica Vista battery is installed at the right corner of engine bay and is of R-type. This depends on the car manufacturer's layout in the engine bay to avoid wiring mess and crossing over while routing.

I will update more on this soon. Till then, please share your valuable reviews on your car batteries.

Re: Car battery thread

My OEM batter with my car Inidca Vista TDI (Diesel engine same as Indigo) lasted 3 years 7 months. The OEM battery was EXIDE MF50Z having 50 AH rating, it was not a maintenance free battery.

I replaced it last week by 65D26R make: AMARON, 65 AH maintenance free battery.
The cost incurred was 4800 Rs after a lot of bargaining through "Just Dial". I got 18 months replacement warranty and then 18 months Pro-rata basis battery.

The battery prices what you are getting is quite good as compared to what I could get in Pune.

Hi Amit, These are online prices. My current EXIDE battery is almost 3 Years 7 months old. I got a quote of Rs 4800/- from another dealer today in exchange of old battery for Amaron GO 65D26R. It looks like the online prices are cheaper. Many Tata owners advised me to go for Tata battery, but I dont have much history/reviews on it.

Re: Car battery thread

With whatever short research I did I found good and bad experiences for all battery makes. Even I was on the verge of going for TATA Green but then at the last moment I came to know two persons who had problems with TATA Green. So I have gone ahead for AMARON as its a reputed brand and ealier years many people were happy with its performance. But I heard nowadays even Amaraon has many issues so even I dont know.
It seems all battery nearly last the same on an average. Its sheer luck! So better go with a reputed brand and one who gives the maximum warranty period both direct replacement and pro-rata basis.
