Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

Got my RTB fixed yesterday at MPL in Perungudi.

Fixed an appointment on Tuesday for Thursday 2.00pm. But when I landed up there, they said they were FULL. I went into an argument with them because they ought to keep up the appointment. But they said they were helpless because people just drove in and they could not turn them away.

But after a lot of argument - I got them to take the car for replacement. And they offered a drop to my Office nearby.

I then called at 6.00 and asked if was completed - the guy paused and said he would return the call. He then called back and said that it just went for replacement and would be completed by 7.30pm.

When I reached the service station at 7.30, they were in the last stages of the repair. They did a 2 min test drive and handed over the vehicle.

If you want your replacement done, just drop in early in the morning and get it done. Else they will hurry up your job and it may not be perfect.

That's the first thing on my list now! Thanks for the concern mate!

Thanks GTO for posting Ford's reply! Is there a mail which you have received? If yes, is it possible to forward that to me? Will PM you my e-mail address.
I will be taking an appointment tomorrow first thing in the morning.

BTW, the drive was great and Figo stood by the family on all sorts of roads! And with the RTB changed, I could feel quite a difference in the handling of the car before and now.

Cheers!

Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

On Saturday, a week after the RTB change, I am hearing some creaking sounds (like some metal parts rubbing against each other) from rear suspension area. It wasn't like that before. Anybody else facing the same issue?

Hi New Novice,

I would NOT recommend to check it anywhere outside. Reason is: AFAIK, Ford has shipped every dealer the specific equipment/tools to check cracks. This equipment will not be found at any local garage. So, most local garages wont be able to detect any minute cracks.

Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

I got my car checked and the RTB replaced today at Harpreet Ford, Gurgaon. Unlike previous times, the experience was great. They took care to explain everything they did to the car (service + RTB replacement). Looks like Ford did a great job keeping the dealerships informed.
However, the workshop did not replace the power steering hose. They explained that my car was manufactured before Sept'10 so did not require any PSA replacement.
The car felt much firmly grounded and sure footed post the service and RTB replacement. Though that might have been partly due to wheel alignment and the service in general.

Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

Today morning left my car at A.S.S for the Power Steering hose leakage issue.

I am told that the diesel Figos are not a part of the service recall. Nevertheless, they will look into the issue and if needed, the part will be replaced under warranty.

Though the Hose does not appear to be in stock as of now, A.S.S will contact me in case of delay in giving back the car.

Another thing which cropped up during the Pune-Hyd drive was that the Glove Box does not lock properly and on un-even surfaces, it pops open. Have requested A.S.S to attend to that as well.

Hoping to get the car back tomorrow morning.

Will update with the work carried out on the car.

Cheers!

Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

Hi
Checked VIN for my Figo on the Ford website and as expected it did not appear there, because mine is a Apr-11 model.
However, even before this recall was announced I was a little concerned about a strange noise coming from the rear suspension of my car. This happens when passengers in the rear get off from the car or when the car is parked on upward incline and I engage/ release the hand brake. In last couple of days this noise has also started to appear when I turn off the engine.
But now am starting to wonder could this be related to the reason why Ford has announced the recall?

I got my car's RTB replaced on 17th august and went to jaipur the next day. After returning yesterday I noticed some kat kat noise from the rear which was not there before the replacement. Called up service Centre today and will send the car again tomorrow for check up. Sometimes I feel guys at harpreet ford gurgaon don't know how to repair properly

Even I am hearing the noises from the rear but only when the rear bench is fully occupied. I suspect the noises due to the springs and has nothing to do with the RTB replacement although the noise wasnt there before the RTB replacement. Will talk to the SA who had done the job.

Suprisingly Ford does not have a feedback form for the job done or are they assuming that none of the Ford customers need to complain about the free replacement.

Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

Hi,

I got my Figo RTB and Hose replaced under FSA. However, after I got it back, I hear some strange sound while I start to accelerate on 1st gear from neutral (at times in 2nd gear also). This sound is like some parts of the car moving or something comes exactly when I start releasing the clutch and start accelerating.

Not really sure if this is related to the changes they've made during FSA but this started happening right after I got it back but by the time I realized this, the technician was gone. So, I was wondering if anyone else heard this sound.

Regards,
Sri Harsha.

My greatest fear of doing this replacement was that - if the new part was not installed correctly, it would cause more problems than the old part being there.

Its there for the fiesta(OFF).
It has become almost a standard "campaign" on the job cards i have got.
3 out of my last 5 had this listed, and the last one, a week back, had the same.

Re: Ford Fiesta (old) and Figo Rear Twist Beam & PS Hose - Service Program / Recall

Got my car back after the PS hose replacement under warranty. Nothing to do with FSA.

Nothing much changed in the way car behaved earlier and now. But yes, the steering feels much lighter now.

Though the Glove Box item is still outstanding (as the lock is out of stock currently), Talera Ford has done a good job overall.

The car has been washed in and out and is gleeming with shine now!

Cheers!
