When parking the vehicle do you put the hand brake (parking brake) everytime or you just park the vehicle on the gear ?

OR would you put it on the steep slopes only ?

Use it everytime the vehicle is parked unless i forget. It comes in handy at long stops at signals and when u want to show off a bit ;)

I use it everytime i park my car.
say 95% of the time i use it...

Everytime I park the car, after turning off the ignition and putting the car in gear, my hand automatically goes towards the handbrake.
..also for that occasional turns I take help from the H.B:)

I use it everytime I park and also at all singnals where the stop is more than a minute. it is very handy and frees up your legs for some time..

hand-brake should be renamed as handy-brake!
i uses it everytime while braking, parking or waiting.
since, the thread is about parking i'd like to add couple of more things here.
- always engage first or second gear alongwith the hand-brake while parking on a levelled road.
- always turn your front tyres almost fully towards the curb (foothpath) while parking on a road with some incline/decline. so that even if car moves ahead it'll not go out of control!
- always use hand(y)-brake while waiting on red-lights, this way you can 'Relax' a bit more!

imho, i guess the rear calipers might get stuck and the wheels start dragging. is it so?
but you can always use 2 bricks for those long parkings. :)

I used to do the brick thing on our old ~87 sprinter, lol(combination of little maintanace and a stupid sharp slope around the garage). Nowadays I use the handbrake when parked but not in stoplights.

Can anyone tell whether gears should be engaged in a parked car? I never do it but have seen many cabbies doing that way.

i use both the gear and the hand brake when parking

Absolutely. The wise combination is both handbrakes and putting the car in gear.
I personally never use the handbrake (unless parked on an incline).
