re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Have been following this thread closely.
Are the major niggles in the latest batch of deliveries/New ownership threads going down, or is it my imagination.
Consider this-
1. No complaints on the Main Infotainment system - Hangings, Restarts, Navigation functions.
2. Brakes Niggles - Grinding noises, locking, jaming-pulsing ABS, Handbrake not engaging
3. Gearbox Niggles - 1st Gear slippages, 2nd gear hard, smooth lever movement
4. Clutch - Clutch assembly failures, Hard clutch, not engaging properly
5. Headlights - Gap in light throw, headlights becoming weak after a while, Headlamp cluster cracking-fogging-scratching, Bulb fuses
Any major issues I missed ?
The minor Niggles remain are -
1. Doors - Not closing properly, misalignment
2. Wheel Alignment - Pulling to the left
3. Windows - Creaking, Rattling Noises, Not closing properly
Any misses ?
Have'nt read of Body Rattles, Door rattling, Fittings falling off, Buttons breaking, AC function.
Cheers and niggle free ownership to all XUV Owners.

Major
1 - no issues
2 - occasional grinding noise
3 - 1st & 2nd gear is relatively hard
4 - no issues
5 - none till now (3 weeks of ownership)

Minor
1 - front right door - extra effort required
2 - alignment done at a.s.s (foc) + steering was cross by 35°
3 - no issues

No other issues observed

Let me check the version and report back.
That will help. Mine is an initial model of curve though (8320 I think... the silver colored one). By the way, how do you check the version of the installed firmware?

I have an April manufactured vehicle. And I can assure you that most of the issues that you mentioned just do not exist anymore, if they ever did. Only challenge is still with the brakepad grinding noise which is something M&M is yet to resolve. My RelMgr (Equivalent of SAs I guess) keeps telling me that they are supposed to get new pads which are apparently effective and tested to be so. Don't know, will need to see once I get them. As of date I believe they tried with new designs twice. None worked.

mute+seek button for W8 is what I read earlier. For my W6 it works with 1+* button.
Latest fw are (I may be wrong if there is a latest available recently)
W8 is 4.0
W6 is 3.07

...
Just checked today morning:
Main Sw - 04.00.00
Mech Sw - 01.30.00
Decoder Sw - 08.32.00
BT Sw - 3.24.7

I believe the once in bold would be the most relevant.

On W8,
Mute and >>Seek pressed together gives you the firmware version details.
TA and List pressed together gives you the MapMyIndia maps version.

Aah! That's a handy piece of info. I searched everywhere but could not find that as a readable param. Knew then itself there has to be a combi-key to get this...

Booked my W8 today at VVC . Yeah!!
was able to convince the home ministry to go with Black. I was informed that the wait period is about 3-4 months. I also learnt that Mahindra would send us a mail with some details. Any idea how soon I can expect to hear from Mahindra?

Congratulations, the wait begins.
I would suggest keep the funding part ready if bank procedure or anything needed, there may be a chance that you will get early delivery than committed if rest of the things are in place.

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

The stock windshield wipers of my 4 month old XUV had started leaving streaks and the left side wiper was causing scratches on the top most part of the windshield They also would make a racket when used with very little water on the windshield.
Today i went to the local bosch distributor and got bosch aerotwin wipers 24" and 18" size( had ordered them 4 days back) cost Rs 1200+800= Rs 2000. The Aero twin wipers work very well and best part no sound when used with slight drizzle like the stock wipers.

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Is there a way we can lower down the volume of the speakers when using it through Bluetooth? I have a Samsung S3 and whenever i receive a call when connected to XUV Bluetooth, the volume of the person on the otherside is way too loud. I tried to control the volume from phone but it didnt help.
Anyone else facing this problem or knows a solution. I checked with my RM and he doesnt have an answer.

Did you try reducing the volume from the main infotainment unit when the call is progressing? I do that and it works for me.

I have almost a similar problem with the Navigator. Those turn advices etc are so loud that I start gnashing my teeth soon and then send it on mute. How to reduce that volume?
