Will update it once i got it done. We tried for Old pajero and swift dzire and we got satisfied results. I will have to sacrifice the warranty if i decided to go for this. Also i need to find a proper garage to remove the suspension and send it to mysore. The vehicle needs to be in the garage for atleast 3 to 4 days.

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Is it possible/has anyone tried to rewire the headlight LEDs so that they function as DRLs and stay always on? Amazed that Mahindra didn't make this happen even with the facelifted version!

Even if some how you'll be able to do that, It won't be visible like a DRL during a sunny day, Its only during the evening the LED's from the old gen XUV can be seen that too not very strongly, In the facelifted XUV though the LED's this time around is brighter but still isn't as powerful as a proper DRL.

I strongly suggest that nothing is done that would make warranty invalid. In fact, I would strongly suggest that you purchase extended warranty. Due to an oil leakage from timing case (manufacturing defect), I have to shell out 14K from my pocket. It would have got covered in extended warranty otherwise. XUV is a good vehicle but is very capable of throwing up nasty surprises once in a while. Extended warranty will cushion such shocks.

Hi undead,

is it ok to install only on rear? Will it increase tyre wear?
can you share your latest experience?

From my experience, the body float/mahindra's boat feeling is significantly reduced.. BUT i got a feeling that the vertical movement is increased a bit, but only on higher speeds. May be thats the compromise here due to the quality reduction in dampers nowadays. I need more time to analyse how it goes. We need to change the driving style a bit. Slow down when we see a taller bump ( not the speed breakers) to avoid tossing up the rear passengers.
I dont see any reason for additional tyre wear, because i didnt find any change in alignment. We might see the coil springs go kaput a little sooner than the actual life.

You try for the rear first. If you are satisfied you can go for the front.

Today my vehicle is in the service centre and asked them to check the dampers.

Shifting from apollo apterra to bridgestone has also made a difference to the ride quality..

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

What is the warranty on the tyres on the XUV ? I am seeing a sidewall crack on the LHS front tyre.
-My car is 1.5 yrs old and it came with Apollo Apterra from factory.
-I have run 25k till now.
- No wheel alignment /tyre rotation done till now.
I did not see any specific mention about the tyres in the warranty booklet .But Apollo website mentioned 2 yrs warranty http://www.apollotyres.com/two-year-...-warranty.html

I am not sure if this can be considered under warranty . should I replace this tyre to spare ?

I have not approached any tyre manufacturer for replacement under warranty yet. However from posts from those who have, I guess it is a next to impossible to get a replacement.

More so in your case since, it is very easy to dismiss a sidewall cut like in the pic as due to bad road/ improper care etc.

Usually, tyre warranty is limited to manufacturing defects only. Any other reasons (bad road, rough usage etc) is reason for manufacturer to reject the claim.

However, irrespective of the claim result. I guess you should change the tyre immediately since it looks dangerous.

Hi,
there is no harm in checking with the manufacturer!
It is not so clear whether it is structural failure or due to physical damage.

Btw, This tyre should be changed immediately for obvious safety reasons.

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

I just recently replaced my 3 tyres with the same Bridgestone duelers, and also my car Battery to the stock Exide - on 65K and close to 3 and half years.

I was able to learn that the stock 860Ahm battery which I got with the car, is no longer available with Exide. The newer one is 800Ahms. I was told by the SA that it may not create much of an issue here, Any thoughts here ?

My older bridgestone would have easily taken another 5K or may be more. But I am sure in 1 lakh Kms, this would be the last tyre change.

I also got my gear knob replaced from mahindra and I got the one which is available on post facelift models. Shall update pics soon.

Please show me the pic of the gear knob and how much did you pay for the thing.

Also why didnt you go for Amazon battery if Exide was not available?

Audio system of my W6 has started to function erratically. It shuts down automatically with a small bang and comes on after a gap ranging from a few minutes to a couple of days.
The display does show reverse sensor and AC functioning but no audio when it is in shut down mode. The screen continues to display last FM station playing. Nippon Service at Ludhiana and Chandigarh says that one 'A' board needs replacement costing about Rs 5500/- which is presently not available with the company. May take from a week to month to get.
Is their assessment in order and has anybody experienced similar problem and if yes, was the repair as assessed for me. Reagrds

Many including myself has faced this in W8 infotainment system. However, not as frequent as in your case. I have faced this twice till date in around 30K KMs or ownership.

Also, in your case is the vehicle out of warranty?

Yes the car is four years old and about 50 k on odo. Problem started at about 45 k. I have been pulling it along for almost three months now.

Since the car is out of warranty, service chaps normally want to go whole hog on parts replacement to build a hefty bill. I could also gather after talking to the service gentleman that its not an uncommon problem. I was desirous of knowing if the assessment of repair and bill quoted is in order.

I have been in the same boat. Started off as a once in a week issue but slowly built up exactly like your case. Finally gave it to Mahindra service station who replaced it under warranty. Initial replacement time was a week (I gave my car to GSP Motors, Gurgaon) but after I created a ruckus, got the car the next day.

The unit work perfectly for a couple of days and the problem started again.

Had a word with the Customer Care and asked the service guys to replace the unit again. This happened in March 16 and it was replaced again under warranty. Has been working well since. No issues reported.

Note : As far as I remember it was called the Silver/A Box.

Thanks
